The sun sets on another day...

Sunset was spectacular. The photo above was from GSamples!

I was thinking a lot today about our power. No, not the super powers that we see in so many movies today but the control we have over our life. There are a variety of ways we see this, usually as someone controlling us, or us allowing ourselves to be controlled, or as the myriad of external forces each day that continue to pummel us into apparent submission or reaction.

It is interesting to see how so many people respond. We either find ways around items forced on us, or we adapt, accept, or annihilate. I am sure I could come up with other A words to describe it but these are currently at the top of my mind. We adapt when we react to issues around us and in the process decide new ways to handle it or (yes I use the word) adapt to how it affects us. We accept when we allow things to happen and just deal with how it happens. We allow things and others to control us. We annihilate when we decide enough is enough, and are no longer willing to accept or adapt. It is at this point that things are discarded, and people get hurt or worse.

What can you add to this? What items make you feel as though you have to decide how to handle it?

I tend to find that I get most thoughtful when my opinions are discarded in favor of another narrative. It is worse when facts are discarded in favor of that narrative. Far worse.

There is good news, there is always good news if you look for it. Sometimes you have to take a step back before you react and realize the world has to be evaluated, and maybe there is a bigger picture you can address. Maybe you can choose another choice, and find a path to absolve yourself of the need to be in the situation. Not accepting, adapting, or annihilating it but instead addressing it by absolution. Letting it go.

It is an idea to consider. It is not your fault that the world responds as it does, it is not your fault that anyone would hurt you, intentionally or unintentionally, it is only your interpretation that gives it all power. Your power is to decide, and decide a path that allows you to grow. Your power is to be you, everyday.

So as the sun sets on another day. I am proud of you. I know you see beyond all the rhetoric, and know the world can be a better place because of you in it. Trust yourself, and stop letting other people, places, and things decide your life. Live it every day for your best day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and be powerful...
