The sun sets on another day...
As the sun was setting today I was washing off the driveway and watching the water slowly slide down the concrete only to be lost in the yard. The steady stream of water broke apart and small rivulets made their way, taking away the sand and dirt and restoring some semblance of order.
You know, life would be perfect if life, well, er, was perfect. Each day would be a lesson in perfection, every moment would be amazing.
Huh, well, I have yet to see that. Instead each day we wake up and I for one, find the positives to hand on to, and set aside the negatives, sometimes with pure force. Sounds tough, well it is not.
I had a friend once who exemplified the meaning of finding the high road. I was once tied in knots because of a visit by a higher up. I was walking down an aisle and there was Jim, calm cool and collected. He was a little older than I was, but not too much. I looked at him and said, "You know they are coming right?" to which he said, "Yeah, so?". I was quizzical, as I was still young and asked, "So aren't you worried?", the next statement changed my life, "Why, all they can do is fire me, they can't whoop me and I can find another job."
I stopped, too a moment and considered, and moved on, not worried. Sure, there are things that attack you every day, but it can only slow you down, it can't whoop you, and in the end, you have the choice to overcome and have a good day anyway.
So as the sun sets on another day, sure, it might be a bad day today, but only if you let it be a bad day. Turn it around and make the day the best it can be because it is your choice. Don't ever let it whoop you, and find the best path you can, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy it....
