The sun sets on another day...
The essence of the sun is power, and fury, and light, and of course life. Without the sun we would not exist and our planet would be a cold rock floating through space. There are a myriad of other things we can describe the sun as, but in reality it is relatively finite.
People on the other hand are about as complicated as a store full of IKEA furniture with no instructions. You can figure them out, maybe, but occasionally you want to throw something because they may make no sense or at least no sense to you. With that in mind, today the question is, "What is the essence of you?".
I have to admit I have been fooled before, and I have seen right through some people. It may come as a surprise that I am a natural cynic and I work daily to overcome my cynicism. I have seen so much, and so much of it has been less than wonderful. (Don't ask, it may scare you.) I have trusted some people who have crossed me, and others who have hurt me deeply. I have not trusted some people I should have trusted. Still, that being said, life is about finding the positives in a negative moment and finding the positives in a positive moment. (A lot of positives) So I strive each day to see the positive in people, even when I see or expect the negative. It helps that I have virtually no social conscience, but it would work otherwise as I pay attention and try to understand a lot if not all around me.
I have found that the people who hurt me the most, were not necessarily setting out to do so, they were afraid, or selfish, or uncaring, or sometimes just too busy. Those same people are the ones who lifted me higher or still continue to lift me higher when I actually can interact with them. They show me pathways into success, or at least a pathway to peace.
I try to define my essence as one that focuses on others, and tries to keep lives happy (Well, most of the time). Each day being a measure of infinite possibilities. I try to find the high road, even when the road is not easily visible. I consistently try to define the world around me and affect it in such a way that maybe, just maybe, it is a better place.
So what about you? What is the essence of you? Is it something good that finds a way out for all to see? Are you defined by those around you, or do you define the world as you see it, and help people along? Do you find a way to make people laugh, or cry? Do you see beyond a person's words and into their actions, knowing there is more to them than they are saying, and more to see than they are showing? Who are you?
The questions are deep and nearly infinite. In the end, the biggest question is "Are you someone you would like to meet?" Answer that question, consider how you treat others, consider how the world is when you are around and I think you will find answers.
I see people sometimes who think they are super, but who treat servers at restaurants poorly, or don't pay attention to their children, or worse, over coddle their children until there will be no doubt the entitlements that will come. I also see people who help anyone in need, and who press each envelope into an opportunity for growth, and change. These are the people who help someone in need, who stop to help a car, who find a wallet, and actually turn it in.
So, as the sun sets on another day, consider who you are, but take a moment and consider who you want to be. Find a way to be that person. Call that friend, laugh with someone you don't know, but press to be the best you can be not just for the world, but for yourself as well. I feel strongly that you will love how it turns out, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, dream a little dream, and be happy tomorrow...
The sun sets on another day...
It is funny watching the days go by, well in a funny way at least. Sometimes the days are almost funny, as in humorous, or maybe they tickle your funny bone, as in humerus. I get a kick out of people and animals as a whole because so many try to be smart, and end up making me laugh. Sometimes maybe everyone and everyuthing should check, take a deep breathe, and move one before they do something. Some of today's fun was:
- The woman who called me a less than nice name as I veered in between lanes to avoid the 18 wheeler about to kill us both. First she yelled at me, then she saw why, got a little mousy, and mouthed "Oops, Sorry".
- The man who was talking on the phone and looked at a piece of paper and obviously was looking for his phone frantically when it was in his hand, he mouthed "Duh" as he started talking again.
- The kids who were making faces in the back of a car at me,(Yes, no seat belts) and when I made a face back, they giggled and laughed and jumped around on the back seat (Or on a trampoline in the back seat) of the older car trudging down the highway.
- The squirrel that ran like crazy up the fence when I got home, only to scurry too far off the other side and miss completely before he found his way up a tree.
- The ducks that watched the sunset with me.
I probably have a goofy sense of humor, but these things all struck me as funny. I would rather see people laughing all the time than facing the mass number of strange occurrences they deal with daily. I would much rather the world laughed with me when I say, "Stay in trouble, it's more fun."
They say laughter is the best medicine, after all I read it in readers digest, it must be true. Laughing gives us so much happiness in our lives, how can we go a day without it. Passion, and laughter make for a fun combination, and passion about laughter, well, that is probably a good recipe for a comedian.
I have a friend that I try to make laugh every day. She works far too much and it is my opinion (I hope she agrees) that she needs a stupid laugh. Each day I call and leave a voicemail when she doesn't answer (A great many times) and each time I try to think up something off the wall and a bit (Maybe only a little) comical to make her laugh. I have been everything from a Russian extremest to a southern candy-holic in a weird attempt to get a laugh but if it works just once, it is always worth it. Just once can be the time than means something.
So as the sun sets on another day, why not just laugh. Let's take a moment and laugh at ourselves, our friends, the guy with the plumbers crack, the strange person talking to themselves as they walk down the street, the bee that keeps flying in circles above you and finally finds the flowers, the dog eating peanut butter, the cat trying to jump on the tall bed that missed and acted like they meant to do it. Laugh at the friend who tries to sing and make a mockery of it (I am remembering a version of New York New York at Karaoke that was to die for) or just that person that tries to make you laugh, and hits a funny bone. Worst case, go back a few posts and laugh at the bear and rabbit joke, but find a way to laugh and maybe the world will be a better place.
Sleep sweet, love candy, er, love more candy, er, love life (That's it) and laugh at it every day!
The sun sets on another day...
I lay in the sun.
I lay in the sun under the tree.
I lay in the sun under the tree in the breeze.
I lay in the sun under the tree in the breeze and watch the leaves rustle.
So it goes, on and on until there is detail after detail, until finally a clear picture is drawn.
When I started this 650 odd articles ago, I was short and sweet and to the point, then I built a framework to address things for my children, and those who cared. Moving forward I sometimes was lost in a maelstrom, sometimes driving a whirlwind. Now it is time to think once again about goals.
The purpose of 29000 sunsets was to uplift and give my children a reference for a lot of different things they may encounter. To try to get them, and as many people as possible to make a difference.
This came from a need, perhaps a whim, perhaps more to make a difference in the world by chaos theory. A small gesture can go a large way. I have to start by saying that this was not my first shot. I did OK for a while working with the EGBAR concept. I have written about EGBAR and the concept before, here. I realize that these concepts are just concepts as well, but I like to think that if we make a difference in one persons life, we have a chance to change the world. The first site (all that is left) is here.
So, as I sat today, considering if I was not inspired, and as I found new sources for inspiration, and wondering why some people inspire me easily, and some do not, I think that I will move forward with more conceptual ideas, and more powerful points now.
Enough of that.
As I lay under the tree watching today I watched the wind literally whip thorough the trees. No big deal, right? As I watched though I saw the ripple as one leaf began, then another, and another, until many leaves moved, and together a branch over 3 feet across swayed in the wind. This is the point that needs to be made today. We often consider ourselves and our voice, but do not consider how strong many voices are together. As we slowly feel the power of passion flow across us all, there is nothing we cannot do.
It is even funnier that if the right person speaks to us, understands, and inspires our passion, that it may be even more. I like to think of those people as muses. They have good ideas, but they make other people great. As the wind blows they inspire and incite us forward, like leaves pressing on a branch as the wind presses them. Fun huh?
Sleep sweet, smile bright, and love to the moon and back, and the stars beyond...
The sun sets on another day...
As the sun set I considered a day.
It was a day or playing in the dirt, cleaning up the landscape, and making worn things look new. It was a day of riding bike, seeing friends, and enjoying moments, one by one. It was a day with a lot of people trying to have fun, and a few crazy people too. In the end, it was a good day.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope everyone finds such a good day from time to time and enjoys not only a moment, but a series of moments that are better than most, and more fulfilling than each one that passed before. Mostly I hope you all had a good day.
A brief post today, because my day was mostly about dirt, but it was fun!
Sleep sweet, smile a lot, and laugh all you can...
