The sun rises, the sun sets, as each day gets better, the better it gets...

Fooled you.

For the few hundred users that rummage through this site each day I have a simple message, "Hi". Ooops, perhaps the message is you should believe in yourself each and every day, for if you cannot believe in you, who can you believe in.

As the end of the TV show says, "What's that mean" I will explain.

As we progress through our lives the one common element is you. There will be people that come and go, friends that are there, friends that fade. People that lift us higher, and those that take us lower. The one continuous constant is the essence of who we are in the middle of all of that "stuff". I am well aware I have a plethora of self confidence, perhaps way too much. I have also been told I am far too nice to people, sometimes so much that they misunderstand. The truth is, I believe in myself every day and I am comfortable in my own skin. (Good thing too as it would fit most people like a loose hanging tent) I have a few things I feel people should consider saying to themselves each day.

  • I am the best that I can be
  • I will learn something new today
  • I will be more tomorrow than I was today
  • I will not fear
  • I will not run
  • I will embrace each day as if it is my one true goal, and in doing so, make a difference to the world.
  • As the sun sets, I will count my successes, and be thankful for them
  • As the sun sets I will look at my challenges, and determine how to overcome them

Now, I am sure this sounds like a load of bunk to some people. (I will not say words that are associated with Poo poo or similar just because they might stink) It really is not. Consider for a moment. If you say to yourself you are the best you can be, will you not strive to be the best? If you believe it, you can make it true. It may not be someone else's best, but it is the best for you, what better can it be?

If you commit to learning at least one thing per day, doesn't it make the world a better place. In fact, doesn't it change the way you see the world each day and work backwards to making you the best you can be?

If you commit to learning once per day, and being the best you can be, will you not be more tomorrow? Won't it help you grow each day until that final sunset?

If you do not fear will you not achieve more? Personally I think fear is the most wasteful but useful emotion of all. Wasteful because it keeps us from reaching who we could be. Useful because everything from politics to religion uses fear as their motivator. Discard fear and live for truth and love and in the process learn something new.

If you stand up for yourself and do not run, you take a step to overcoming fear, and in the process face new life, and in the process you may learn something new, and by doing that work towards being the best you can be!'

If you embrace every day and live it to the best you can, you will fill your life with happiness. Sometimes it may mean moving on when you don't want to, or finding a new way, but in the end every day is a gift and it is up to us to stop bunking on it (See I avoided the poo poo again).

For all else we need a scorecard. At the end of the day, recount your success, and do not fail, but find ways to overcome challenge and instead of failure, find other ways. Sometimes those things we think are failures are everything but failure. Be true to yourself and then you can move on to understanding others.

As you love yourself, know yourself, and understand yourself you will truly begin to understand other people and truly understand love.

What is the point?

The point is that the other side of each of the above can keep you from being the wonderful person you are.

So as the sun sets on another day, believe in yourself as I believe in you (and you and you and you...ad infinitum) and love life, embrace each day, learn all you can, and throw fear away, do so and you will be that happy person you deserve, no matter what...

The Sun sets on another day...

It is always amazing to me the variety of people in the world. Each day I meet new and exciting people and all of them have their own stories to tell. There are many people in the world that feel their stories are not important. I, on the other hand, feel that everyone's story is more important than anything else in the world. Whether you are black, white, green, or purple, rich, poor, leader, follower, you have a story to tell.

As we are the sum of all of our experiences many of us have very exciting stories to tell. I have known so many people that deserve to have their stories told and to leave a legacy for their children. Sometimes they have prepared little or even nothing to pass on. I was lucky. My father left me a very heavy legacy of many many writings, many many events, and a lot of people who thought he was a great person. This left me with very large shoes to fill, but I am pressing everyday to make certain that I leave a lasting legacy for my children as he did for me, and a positive impression for others who are important to me.

I am reminded of a quote from the movie Secondhand Lions. One of the main characters spoke of love and passion like it was the most important thing ever and as his story was told it was an amazing adventure and love story that can inspire us all. In the end, the story was something special the nephew took forward for his life as well.

So as the Sun sets on another day think about the story you leave for your children, your family, your friends, and everyone else that looks up to you and try to leave it for them all in a way that they can cherish it forever.

Sleep sweet, love life, and wish upon every sunset that tomorrow will be even better than today...

The sun sets on another day...

How do you handle a fight? Are you the one who makes up? Are you the one who walks forward? Runs away?

Fighting is inevitable in every life situation as we interact daily and sometimes there are things we just don't agree on. This can be positive in our lives, or be negative, depending on the type of person involved.

I feel occasionally it is a good idea to vent or let something be known. No brutality, but letting passion fly should be more than just a casual thought.

Once upon a time I was with a woman that would never stay mad, and each time we would even disagree, we would hold each other and there would be a moment of tenderness. She always ran towards me rather than against me.

At the same time I was with a woman who went to bed angry and tried to bury her feelings, and any problems, causing us to disagree even more from time to time.

As the sun sets today remember that life is too short to be angry, hold grudges or make the world a bad place (Unless the grudge is really really deserved) so run towards that person, make yourself a better person, and love life every day. Each day should be a lesson in passion for you and those people who are special in your life, and in the process you will find your way to happiness, no matter what...

The sun sets on another day...

There are people all over the world that measure their success by money. I know I know, we all do to an extent so we can ensure our survival, our well being, our children's well being and a host of other platitudes that ensure our present and future.

So what is the cost of time? Time cannot be replaced nor bought, nor sold, nor made any better or worse by anything we do. Time just is, and continues, independent of us. Is there anything as precious as time?

In my opinion, passion is as precious as time. There can be no replacement for the loss of time, and by the same token the loss of passion can never be replaced. I know I overthink when it comes to passion, but I honestly feel that to be complete, you need a balance of many things in life, and one of them is passion.

Perhaps this is on my mind because last night while watching TV for a short time I once again watched NCIS. For those of you that don't watch it there was a hidden love between two people that was both strong and timeless. In the episode I watched one of the two made a decision to find another way, and set herself aside. As the man tried to be flippant she said "you are so..." and his interjected answers were comical, but protecting himself. Her reply to them all was to shake her head and just say quietly, "loved."

As he walked away backwards from the most passionate yet tender kiss you will ever see on television he stated, "hardest 180 I will ever do" and finally turned and got on his plane, allowing her to find her way, but hoping beyond all hopes that someday she would find that way back to him. That type of passion is priceless. If you have it, hold onto it, never let it go as it is more rare than the most expensive trappings. If you want it, hold on, keep your eyes open as it will find you when you are not looking. If you lost it, walked away, made that 180 or made someone make that 180, what you may have lost is priceless as well, but may not ever be truly lost. Lastly, if you don't have it and don't want it, all I can say is I am sorry.

So as the sun sets on another day, smile and live for passion, smile and love for life, make a difference every day to someone, and when someone reaches out their hand, take it and hold on forever...no matter what.
