The sun sets on another day...

As the sun sets the skies are overtaken with the colors of twilight, and as darkness falls often the stars shine so brightly that you cannot help but wonder how long it would take to count them all. As we revel in the starlight if we are lucky the fireflies surround us and light up our lives just a little more. They are happy and easy going in their search for others, and again bring light to our lives.

Sometimes it is hard to remember that the littlest lights in our life can sometimes bring joy and happiness to our hearts. We should enjoy the small moments as much as the large, and pay attention each moment to every light in our life, no matter how little in may seem.

When I was very young I remember singling a song, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..." and often singing it until late at night until i finally fell asleep. I held on to the little light and never let the darkness that surrounded find a foothold in my life, because that little light would not be extinguished. We all need to do the same and find that little light, however small, that makes our life a better place.

So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment and remember that the smallest light can brighten your day if you let it. Hold on to every moment and light up your life to the high path, each and every day, no matter what...

Sleep sweet, look for the light, and make it part of your heart every day...

The sun sets on another day...

High in the sky the sun rises above, and looks down upon us all, well, not really looks down on us, because it has no personality and doesn't think we are lesser, or well, anyway.

Isn't it easy to get caught in words? It is easy to say things we don't mean, and mean things we don't say.

A long time ago I had a girlfriend that was a little brutal. She made the statement to me once about life, "Don't say it if you don't mean it, and if you really mean it, say it." Of course that was after a daily dose of silliness that should have scared me to become a monk, but it stuck with me for a long time. After all she was also the one who said, "If you were sorry you wouldn't have done it." Which was after I was stuck in traffic behind a wreck and was 5 minutes late to our date night. Fun huh?

The point is, sometimes we need to say things so people can understand our points of view, and sometimes we need to be quiet and listen, so we understand their point of view.  I really don't know if she really got that concept.

Although I have put my foot in my mouth so many times that Dr Scholls makes a mouthwash for me I can honestly say I have listened as many times and found a way to understand the misunderstood, and accept the unacceptable. It is this trait (in my opinion) that makes good people better. Those that at least try to take the high road instead of the self escalating poor communication we often experience are the people that can change the world. In my opinion there is no better use of our time than listening to other people, and no better people to be with than those that want to listen to you.

So as the sun sets on another day, listen. Listen to the sunset, listen to your heart, listen to other people, and find the way to be the best person you can be by taking the high road every time you can.

Sleep sweet, love life, and reach for the stars and you will always find your way to success...

The sun sets on another day...

Yesterday as I watched the sun set (It is storming tonight) I looked slightly to the north and saw 5 clouds. As I looked at how they were lined up I laughed at their semblance to a translation table. Each cloud seemed to have a subtitle that was trying to sat something to the world. The first cloud had a jumping cat under it with its tail trailing in the jump. The second cloud was a swan, with some of it submerged, and the long neck extending out of the water then down again. In the third cloud a prancing porcupine was seen. The fourth a pair of thin rabbit were below and the last cloud was accented by a large raccoon.

I laughed at the clouds with a friend and moments later they were gone, whisked away by the wind, never to be seen again. The positive is of course that I saw them, and so did others and we will remember them (or at least I will) and I enjoyed the moments where my overactive imagination took me away for a moment and made a reality that was super to me.

Sometimes in life we are presenting with brief glimpses and opportunities to see something more, and it is up to us to grasp on to those opportunities and hold onto the moments for as ling as we can, and if necessary hold on to the memories as the situations are whisked away as easy as the clouds were in my sky. If we are lucky, and I know we all can be, we take with us the positive memories, and enjoy the moments we have for every instant we can squeeze out of them, no matter what.

So as the sun sets on another day, if you are presented with something that you know you should see, enjoy it for every second, and in the end you will have made a new memory, and perhaps found a way to personal growth. At minimum, you will have a few minutes to tell a cool story about a few clouds grazing across the skies.

Sleep sweet, love life, and imagine the world as it should be, then make it happen...

The sun sets on another day...

As the sun set this evening there were many people walking by. Some were watching the colors slowly fade into the water as the sun set. Some where focused on themselves, and others were focused on those around them. Many would say "hi" as they passed, some with true meaning, some with positive indifference, and some with just indifference.

It is always eye opening to me to see how people interact and to consider the motivations they have inside. I always try to consider for a moment the stories they see, the stories the are, and the stories they become.

Years and years ago there was a movie called "Brainstorm" that presented peoples memories (and even their entire being) as memories within memories, and motivations that were born of previous actions and interactions. The anger being felt not being felt for the situation, but for a previous situation that reminds us of a deeper memory that was less than pleasing. The elation in a similar manner was exciting and new but grew based on the depths of positive experiences in a persons past. Sometimes we can a moment and cannot put our finger on why, I usually find a reason if I think about it, but sometimes it is better not to think about it and just enjoy it. (I wrote about one such item here.) The world is not like a movie, but it is an adventure daily that we can enjoy!

The trick is, in my opinion, in having more positive memories to hold on to than negative memories. I hear all the time about peoples bad childhoods, but those bad childhoods made them good people. Let go. Lots of people talk about the bad situations over the good when there are just as many good things to consider daily. I know the world will never be a place that is always good, but it is important to remember it will never be a place that is all bad either. Maybe, just maybe we should consider talking about the good things in our lives when we talk to people, and considering why we react the way we do when we think otherwise. After all, we have a story, but it may be based on a  a story, which could be based on another story, which has the truth buried within. Make sure that truth is a truth and not a supposition.

Sorry if this is a ramble, but one of the people walking by tonight was lost in a bad place, and it pointed out this whole line of thinking as he walked by in a huff, angry at the world with no reason to be.

So as the sun sets on another day, lets make good memories together, and find the positive sin our life daily to make better choices, better decisions, and to make the world a better place, no matter what...

Sleep sweet, love life, and make every day the best day it can be...
