The sun sets on another day...

I was browsing through pictures today and decided it would be better to share an awesome sunset a friend took today.

As I was driving home today a rabbit crossed the road, and as I passed it it paused and looked back, but then kept moving to the brush. It was as if the rabbit was saying "wow that was close" and considering the past, but moving forward to whatever warren it may be a part of today.

I liked the thought of the rabbit moving forward and realized there was once again a life lesson here. What?

- The rabbit took a chance and crossed the road. (Maybe just to get to the other side, but it made the effort)

- The rabbit paused to reflect on its success. (If only for a moment)

- The rabbit moved forward, and went on. (Like we all should.

I would like to think we all do similar, but too often we simply do not cross the road. We have a lesson from the rabbit, we cannot overcome obstacles unless we try, then we can "cross the road" and resolve the issue. We also need to evaluate what we did when we cross, and too often that simply does not happen. We move on and don't pay enough attention to our successes, or our failures. Finally we should move on to the next challenge, not gloat in our success, or stick around waiting for someone who needs a nice rabbit stew, but move on to our next challenge, and do the same.

I know, I know, it is a simple thought, but I think everyone should consider how fortunate they are for having the ability to live, then enjoy that life by challenging themselves with one "road" after another.

So as the sun sets on another day, let's cross the road, and get to the other side. Safe and sound because we can do it! Let's look back and celebrate, but not for long as we move on, and find our way, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, cross the road, and keep finding new roads always!

The sun sets on another day...

Its funny how we see the sunset, setting in the west and being a beacon for the best light show on the face of the planet, playing here, wherever you are, once per day, no matter what.

This week I had the pleasure of watching a remake of the classic "Magnificent Seven". I have to say I was sad about it at first because the original story has been redone to death and it is rare to see something totally new come out in the theaters lately (Or it may be I have just seen too many movies). At the same time I was excited because there were  a lot of good names, and a lot of good possibilities.

Having seen just about every version of this film I have high expectations. From the 1950s Seven Samurai to the 1960 version, to the Hawaii based Seven (Not Brad Pitt) to the modern series and return and batch after batch more I was well aware of the story line. It seemed to me the most fun would be in the quips and characters. So, it had the opportunity for fun but it was an unknown, which is good.

Good news, it delivered. The joke I was reminded of was originally told by Steve McQueen and made me laugh and is the purpose of today's post. (Yes, I finally got there after this long bit of rambling) As the joke is told it is comparing a no win situation and too often looking at the good side to "a man jumps off a 10 story building and people on every floor heard him as he fell just saying, "So far so good"."

We seem to understand when things are good and bad every day, and if we know we are "falling" maybe, just maybe we need to take a different path before it is too late. We can say "oops" and move on then.  At the same time, when things seem at their worst, keeping a positive attitude may be the best solution and perhaps we need to consider saying those important words, "so far so good" and enjoying the ride in spite of the outcome. I had a friend that was undergoing a lot of procedures once, there was really no way it was going to be a super outcome but I was always amazed at how positive he was and I can imagine him even now looking over with a smile and simply saying, "so far so good" in spite of it all.

So as the sun sets on another day, lets consider the direction we are going and make the best of it, no matter how we see it going, and when someone asks us how our day is going, whether it is good or bad maybe we just need to say "so far so good" and smile the night away.

Sleep sweet, love, and reach for the moon and the stars beyond, no matter what...

The sun sets on another day...

It was mentioned recently that there are many days that when I proof the post of the day, then I scrap it or set it aside to be rewritten, or eventually destroyed.

Wouldn't it be easier if life was like that? As we move into a new age of computer driven systems, so many look for the easy reset, the quick and dirty "extra life", and the "oops I did it again" start overs. In reality we really need those days to remind us how to be better, how to avoid mistakes, and how to ensure our life is the best it can be. After all, I wouldn't have any good writing if I didn't get to write the bad as well. I don't feel you can understand success without defeat, nor be able to walk unless you have fallen. (etc etc etc)

So as the sun sets on another day, don't let go of the mistakes, hold on to them and remind yourself everyday how thankful you should be for the moments you have, and the things you can share with us all, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and live it, each and every day...

The sun sets on another day...

This morning we woke to a hard morning. the winds were high and the skies trembled with difficulty as they dumped rain upon us sporadically. Outside it sounded like a war was raging between ancient forces long forgotten by men The trees creaked and sagged in the onslaught of wave after wave of relentless wind. Then in a moment the sun peeked out of the darkness and set aside the grey in favor of bright amazing skies.

Often in life we face similar. The darkness and the storm seem to be relentless but if we weather the storm, we come out the other side in clear blue skies. We just have to remember to weather the storm and draw upon our inner strength and the strength of those who support us.

So as the sun sets on another day, it is a beautiful day, so enjoy it and every moment you can, no matter what...

Sleep sweet, love life, and weather the storm, then enjoy the sunshine as it passes...
