The sun sets on another day...

In my dream I stand at the top of a hill. A road stretches before me and forks to each side. Next to me my dog sits patiently waiting, wagging her tail in apprehension at the direction I will take. Coming down the road towards me is the potential for conflict, but though that conflict both peace and happiness. To the right lies unrest but no conflict, and to the left like an unsure future and again and no conflict. I ponder, wondering, and consider which road to take? I know the middle will be hard and fraught with pain, but the outcome will be rewarding. The others offer lesser rewards but no conflict. So again, how to proceed?

This "dream" is part of many scenarios from the book of questions to a few really awesome novels. The idea that we can live a mundane life versus a spectacular life  through hardship is on the edge of a lot of peoples minds often. How we proceed is often driven upon who we are. Do we chance something new and fraught with issues or stay in a situation that just feels OK and we can live with? The hard part is knowing for sure which direction to go. I mentioned this previously in a post (here) where we pick our roads but let's take it one step further. Does it matter? When you are on a Jet-ski you can drive it around like a grandma and have some fun, drive it fast and have more fun, or ride the waves hard and end up 30 feet in the air. Which is more rewarding? I would say being in the air! If you are "off-road" in your jeep, or your truck, do you take the road that is asphalt or go for the wild ride up the mountain to the end of the cliffs or even a romantic romp on back roads that end s up in a tent (here). I feel this is considered in many relationships, do I take the chances, or do I take the safe path.

So who cares, right? Well I think we all should care and get on that bumpy path so we can live life, not exist in life. Spending a lifetime of peace will not make a person any more than a piece of peace. In the end they will not have experienced, known, or even given life a chance. So I return again to a quote by Hunter S. Thompson (Here) where he says:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

Obviously I am not the first who has considered the other roads, nor will I be the last, but at each turn I hope I can take those turns and hopefully you all will be with me.

So as the sun sets on another day, lets find life to live, lets grab onto those people that take us to new heights, go those new places that change our world, and find ways to make our life an amazing adventure, and not just an existence. Let's laugh out loud and not worry about who is listening, whistle while we work, and laugh at those that whisper in the corners life frightened mice, jump from the plane (with the parachute) and feel the rush of air through our hair, and live every moment so when tomorrow comes, we know that yesterday was past awesome.

Sleep sweet, find life, and make it your own, no matter what...

The sun sets on another day...

For a moment, and only a moment the clouds parted and the sun brightened the land with fiery incandescence. Then the clouds came in again, letting us know they too had purpose. Blocking the light the held the sun at bay for a moment longer, then the light faded as another day ended.

I considered this as always (yes, I consider some weird things) and thought about the light of right, and the darkness of ignorance. Truth is, there is a lot of ignorance, bred by fear, distrust and personal motives. By that same logic there is a lot of truth, born out of a honest selflessness. Consider the man on the side of the road, waiting for help. Do you stop, or do you drive by. Perhaps that person could be a crux point in your life, and your decision will guide your fate. (good or bad). Does it affect your decision? We are often driven by fear and ignorance when we should be driven by a need to help others. My decision, in spite of recent events, is I will stop and help. I do not recommend that to all, but to me it will always be worth it and the right thing to do. My point is, don't let pride, prejudice or other negative items stop you from doing the right thing.

Never stop helping, never stop feeling, and never stop learning. Feel passion everyday and let someone know that you feel the passion.

So as the sun sets on another day, consider how doing the right thing is right, and do it, even if it seems wrong. (sometimes wrong is right and right is wrong but that would take hours to go through, perhaps this weekend?)

Sleep sweet, love life, and smile a little, whistle a lot, and laugh even more...

The rain sets on the sun for another day...

I am reminded of the quote from the movie "The Crow", "It can't rain all the time". It is true, and by that I am not necessarily talking about the constant flow of H20 from the skies right now, but instead the number of sad faces I have seen today. As I walked the streets downtown of a major city I was amazed by the number of people lost in their own little worlds with the visage of a person heading to the gas chamber. As they walked past I would acknowledge them, and they would smile for a moment, then be lost again. As the rain began to fall I wondered if they even noticed but hoped I made some small difference by even noticing them in their day to day. At one point I said hello to a man and he looked up, realized I was talking to him and smiled and started a short conversation, in my opinion happy that someone even noticed he existed.

So as the sun sets on another day, pay attention to more than yourself and at least acknowledge the other people you pass, and perhaps, just perhaps, they will feel a little better about life. Who knows.

Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy every moment of every day, it is worth it...

The gentle clouds engulfed the sunset of another day...

There are so many ways I could phrase it, but the clouds knew and know no malice as the closed in upon us blanketing us with an even veil of light. Malice is an interesting thing. There are those in life that seethe with malice and their undertone is to make others miserable. There are those in life that adapt and try to get by to a point, but without anger or malice at all. There is also the rare third group, those that try so hard to be the second, and accept and understand, do the right thing, and make the world a better place but when faced with the insurmountable scare even the most terrifying of the first with the depths they can pull from. I consider those the sheepdogs, the first the wolves, the second the sheep.

Don't get me wrong, the world is not so easily divided, but these groups seem to work a lot of the time. The wolves rules by violence, the sheep by fear, and the sheepdog by the right. (I am always open to opinions.

So without going into an obvious rant to the far side of the sun, tonight as the sun sets on another day, consider if you are one of these 3, and in the end, which one of these you want to be, and reach for it. Be the cloud gently enveloping us all that can do what is necessary, the sheepdog who sleeps until it is time to protect, or whatever you may be. Consider, and be happy.

Sleep sweet, love life, and love a little more, no matter what...
