In plain sight…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was spectacular and I watched the sun slide through the trees and become a spotlight to tomorrow, I enjoyed every moment.

Sometimes we can’t see what is in plain sight. Our minds just want to accept what we think we see, even though it is right there. I smile at the thought of looking for my glasses once and finding then hooked on my shirt, and laugh about looking for keys only to find them sitting in front of me.

There are other things that are in plain sight. Those things we see in front of us and know, but ignore for other reasons. We sometimes don’t see the positive sin our lives, but they are there. It is far too easy to get caught up in the negativity, the things that bother us, and we lose sight of the moments in plain sight.

I took some time today as I shoveled scoop after scoop of asphalt to look at the flowers, to see the sky, to watch an eagle overhead, and to water the garden. The pain in my arms after working for hours on the driveway was noticeable, but not awful but some might see the irritation and somewhere along the way, I found the positive. It is there, if you look, in plain sight.

So as the sun sets on another day, lets take a moment and find the positives. The negatives seem to be easy, but we can find the positives and make our days better each day if we want to. Want to, then make the world yours, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and it is right there…

Faces…

The sun sets on another day…

Storms are rolling in now, and the sunset will be consumed to those of us below. Still, it is there, waiting, above us.

It is another day for a poem:

Faces
I like to think we all are true
I like to think we’re good
I see the world through eyes like you
but I see nothing as I should

I see the faces each walk by
I see the face beneath them
I know that people question why
but they also hold dear their kin

I see inside the face of each
and every one that I know
and in the moments I try to seek
a way that we can grow

It took a while for me to learn
that some will never see beyond
and with each passing day I yearn
for the deceit to finally be gone

I like to think that we all are true
I know the world is different
for our world is like a zoo
and our time is nearly spent

So hear me now and listen well
Your point you made is yours
but you will never see beyond this world
Unless you see theirs and ours

Set aside your face and be true to you
Without worry of cry or shame
leave your face aside and the now
it will never be the same

So as the sun sets on another day, I have written a few things that people saw far more when they read it. I wonder what will be seen here. Most wear masks, and I avoid it. I am what I am, and if you walk with me you might see a different world, or you might not. I hope you find happiness each day with all the world going on around us. Be you, because you are worth being. Make the best of your day every day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love deeply, and shed your face…

In theory…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was spectacular. I was happy and excited about it all. I enjoyed the setting sun and the lightshow across the skies.

There is a theory for everything. A theory for good, for bad, for highs, for lows, for every aspect of every day. Still, it is a theory. A theory is “a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.” It is the basis of science, mathematics, and so much more. We have theories every day, and we either prove them, or disprove them.

One of my theories is that every day can be a fantastic point in our life, if we only let it. Every moment can mean more. Passion can be deeper, we can be the best people we are, and we can find love, laughter, and excitement if we only take the time to look. I believe it so it comes to be for me. I find a way. I think you can as well.

So as the sun sets on another day, I believe in you. I believe in all you are, and I think we can find a fantastic day together if we only take a chance. Take that chance, open your mind to a new theory of some greatness, and make every day yours, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and keep on keepin on…

Unpredictable…

The sun sets on another day…

I am sure sunset was fantastic. I watched from afar as the colors shattered the sky, and I was at peace for a moment. After all, it is a peace born out of the success of a day.

If you do not know I write books you may be one of the thousand that read a few posts and move on, on 29000sunsets. It is good, I write books, it is fun, I do not do it to get rich or even to make a lot of money, I do it because I enjoy writing and there is always a story to tell(andrewallensmith.com for more info).

That being said I was at an event this weekend that set my mind afire with its unpredictability. It was good, I smiled, I laughed, and as usual I talked. At the core of what I talked about was dealing with day to items, grief, and fear. For many others it was an opportunity to just be someone who wasn’t too pushy and noted that the day was amazing or making small comments to help people along.

As the first day went on the focus was fear. People bought many copies of “A Slice of Fear” and “Another Slice of Fear” and only some copies of other items. A few here and a few there. Still, it was very successful and people were focused.

On Sunday, the second day the crowd was different. The focus shifted to My Action Series, “The Masterson Files” and I had several full sets sell. This made the day seem different. Still we laughed and enjoyed the day, but it was unpredictable how to approach any of it. Of course as always I sent many people to other tables, after all, people should read what they like, and not just what an author thinks they should read.

I guess the thought is, it is hard to know how people approach every day, and as we move along I can say with minimal reservation that things can be awesome always, and each day is an opportunity for a new beginning, and a new series of adventures. Maybe it is the day, maybe it is the people and how they choose the days, but in the end it is hard to know and we just have to roll with it.

So as the sun sets on another day, it has been fun, and life is amazing if you pay attention. No matter what comes at you, roll with it. Find a way where others see little. Change and adapt as necessary, and as you do remember that every day is an opportunity. I did, and because of it I have a super day! Enjoy your time and read some good books too.

Sleep sweet, read books, and read what you like…

Crossroads…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was cloudy and the light breeze brought cool contemplation. A worthwhile day to reflect on.

I spoke to a tremendous number of people today and I asked many of them one simple question. What do you fear? The answers were varied and I will respond later with a longer post that goes into the depths of all of the different people and their assorted fears. I was stunned and amazed at the number of people that weren’t sure. Many more were afraid of the times that we live in now and the division between people and easy jumps to horrible conclusions.

With that in mind there were highlights today and it made me feel better about society and far better about people in general. Some fantastic people stopped by and talked, and many will be in my mind for a long time if not longer.

We are all at a crossroads each day where we can be positive or be negative. In this crossroads we can overcome adversity or succumb to it. I would like to suggest to every person that you overcome all that you face and stay positive each and every day.

So as the sun sets on another day consider well the positives and negatives in your life and find the way to positive each day and in the process make this day the best ever, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life,  and you are amazing…

Lakeshore Art Festival…

The sun sets on another day…

I considered the sunset carefully not because it bore any special review but because everything around it did.

Out of chaos, order.

I’m still waiting.

I hope you will join me tomorrow at the Lakeshore Art Festival. From 9 to 6 I will be signing books and generally having fun. Thanks for all of your support.

So as the sun sets on another day, look for the order in it all and look towards a better world without chaos. We can find common ground if we listen to each other. I hope you can find a little peace tonight, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and see you at the Lakeshore..

From the ashes

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was a pirouette of colorful cascading cyans and cranberries. The sky was a masterpiece of color.

I was thinking a great deal about beginnings and endings this week. Along with that the idea that sometimes you have to start fresh when life has burned you. There is a lot to it. Some of the ashes left will be from friends, some from enemies, but all of them do something you may not have considered. The lay groundwork.

At my house I have Jack Pines. Actually, a lot of them. A lot of people don’t know the Jack Pine, which is an annoying tree that grows fast and falls all the time has an interesting adaptation to fire. Fire starts their life. Fire is a catalyst to more. (Jack pine, although easily killed by fire, has developed serotinous cones that depend upon high heat to open and release the seeds) Why don’t we? Sometimes it is necessary to burn things down in order to grow, in fact sometimes it is necessary to consider starting anew when there is nothing left.

Now, I don’t really recommend this for all people. Sometimes though if it is time, a good change will make a new start something better. You know what, you will be building on fertile ground as well. You will have learned.

So as the sun sets on another day, ashes ashes we all fall down? Well, perhaps it is ashes ashes we begin anew and create something better than what was there before. Remember you are amazing, and make the world as amazing as you are, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and where are those matches?

Little laughs…

The sun sets on another day…

I was warm and toasty as the sun set, cutting wood and mowing to clear the never ending battle between driveway and forest to my house. The time seemed to drift away and as I looked up the sky was splattered with pinks and blues, a fantastic sight to be sure.

There are some things that make your day without being overwhelming, a small moment or little thing that walks up and makes you snicker or laugh on the inside. Open your mind for a second and walk with me.

Tonight I was at Sam’s Club picking up several sundry items for the house. If you do not shop Sam’s or Costco you may not know that what you want may not be there. Instead they have what they have, and sometimes items change. With that in mind, to check off parts of a grocery list (ugghh, icky, grocery shopping) you have to go up and down aisles to see what is there. Early on I walked down the drink aisles of the warehouse store. Being me, I noticed everyone and said “Hi” to a variety of people. Some of them nodded, some ignored me as though I were an escapee from a leper colony, and some smiled or said “Hi” back. As I walked I noticed some come and go, the family who was grabbing everything; the 4 person “fit” family who walked with purpose; the lovely older woman who could not have been taller than 4’11; the guy almost as big as I was that obviously had no interest in being there as his wife talked to him and threw more items into the cart; and a young lady in a sharp dress that smiled and laughed for a moment as I greeted her.

I walked down aisle after aisle with some people coming, and some going. As I ran into repeats I was brutally annoying as I said “Hello again” or laughed for a moment. Finally as we hit the condiment aisles it was just me and the young lady in the dress. I laughed and used my almost creepy voice “I may be following you, eewww scary,” she laughed as well as we passed and I giggled as I picked up a 3 pack of ketchup that might last until the next ice age. As I turned into the next aisle she was there and as we passed she laughed and said “maybe I am following you.” I laughed out loud and said I would write a story about that.

It was there the adventure ended, I use a cool app where I shop and scan and move on, and she went to a register. I was gone in moments but the idea and the laughter remain. I have already started the story (sorry, next scary book to be called “Yet Another Slice of Fear”) but the laugh remains. The people we interact with help make our lives complete, and sometimes someone you don’t know can make a day a little better. (And those you do know, well, they are pretty cool as well)

So as the sun sets on another day, reach out and laugh. Reach out and interact. Say good morning to someone special, say good evening to someone awesome. Even if you don’t know them it may mean the world to you, or to them. Don’t let the world be less to you, take more, and enjoy your day every day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and giggle a little…

Measure…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was amazing and surprised me. The lower clouds were hidden and the twilight came fast as the even was upon me. I smiled as I took picture after picture and laughed at the crowd watching the sun. Somewhere in it all I sang: “All is well, fare thee well, the day is done.” Not exactly the words, but they were mine and it fit.

I thought a lot today about the measure of man. Not man as a sex, but man as a creature on this planet. Man as all of us, of every color and creed, sex and persuasion, man as us all. The question I pondered is how do we measure ourselves.

I was quickly reminded of movies and books I have read and the idea that we are great or good based on how we approach the world, and what effect we have upon it all. I considered the words I wrote about today here. I also thought about how we define ourselves by objects, I wrote about that here. Then I considered the mistakes we make as I wrote here. To put it simply, I was trying to determine how to measure a man and was measuring how I have done it before.

Then I considered, pondered, pontificated, and more. With those thoughts I feel the measure of a man is who they are today, this day, not yesterday or tomorrow, but instead how we are measured today. My son and I discussed this last week on a long drive, and we talked about how people are who they are. I agree. People are who they are and as they are, so they will be. Wow, that is confusing, but it makes sense. If we define ourselves each day, then each day we are measured by our definition of us. Each day we become more or less of who we should be, and in that we are fulfilled.

So as the sun sets on another day, no day is a pass. You are the measure of yourself each day as am I. We are the measure of a race each day, and what we do affects us all. Make you the best you that you can, and enjoy your eve, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and feel…

Blue Skies…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was, well, spectacular in its own way. As I watched the sun set I was at home with the waves and wind crashing upon the shore. The whispers from the rustling leaves opened my heart and mind while I opened the shutter and created another picture of the twilight.

It has been a tumultuous few weeks, even for me. With that in mind tonight I watched blue skies, and all day enjoyed the blue skies and soft winds. Maybe occasionally in this wild life you need a few moments to say “ahhh” and to just enjoy the day. I know that this time is an amazing series of adventures, and we all will be better for this.

So as the sun sets on another day, take a breath, laugh a little, cry if you need to, but enjoy the blue skies and make this day yours, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and ahhhhh
