A day to listen

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was so snowy I could barely see the road, but there was a certain amount of beauty to it, and as the darkness fell and I was lost in a perpetual star field of snowflakes, I smiled because it was good.

I met a lot of people today, and it seemed as the day went on that there was a common theme. I laughed with many, cried with some, and listened to all. It is amazing how much you can learn if you just listen. As I listened the day became a series of conflicting situations revolving around choices and interactions. I was told about different issues we had faced and different people who had left our lives or for bad.

Some of the people I talked to we’re finding their way to positivity and some of them were lost in negativity. All of them just wanted somebody to listen to them for just a moment. In the end many of us just one our stories to be heard. Whether it’s something simple or something far more complex we just want to know that somebody understands who we are.

On the other hand there are far too many people that don’t listen to others and I really wish everyone would take the time to listen and enjoy the world around them every day. To everyone who I talked to, thanks for telling me your story. And for those that I didn’t talk to perhaps next time. I hope you all find a way to find peace. It’s out there.

So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you find your peace each day. In the process I hope you listen and are heard and  in the process I hope you see far more and far further than yesterday. Find your path, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…

Time passages…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was a passage between 2 cascading cloud banks. As the sun set the colors once again muffled, but the beauty was there, as always.

As I sat this evening thinking about the day, I was reminded of the song Time Passages. there is a line in the song that says, “Years go falling in the fading light” and as I sang that song to myself, I thought about how years fade away so fast.

It seems like only yesterday that I held my daughter in my hand, and now I have a grandson from her. It seems like only yesterday that I spent time working so hard to be a professional, only to find that I already was. It seems like only yesterday that I graduated high school thinking about all of the things that I could have done. It seems like only yesterday that my sister and I moved every year and never seem to find any place to call home. It seems like only yesterday that my little sister joined my family and we started an amazing journey together.

There are so many things that slide away from us so fast that we should appreciate more but sometimes don’t in time. There are so many things going on right this moment that we should be sharing with others and we find our time slipping away.

Enough of that depressing stuff. Each day we define the day that we want. To say different is to give up our individuality and our ability to make decisions for ourselves. We need to take that responsibility and acknowledge that no matter what decision we make, it is our decision when it comes to our time. The moments will fly away from us so fast that they will be gone in an instant, but as we look at each day, we need to say I have done the things that are important to me and been with the people that mean something in my life.

I find myself in complex territory that many of you probably share. How do I spend my time wisely, and how do I ensure that the people I feel are important feel the same about me? Even more important, how do I ensure that my perceptions of situations are actually aligned with other people? How do you?

It is funny that I wrote paragraph after paragraph and just deleted them all. I am simply going to end the day with this. Once your time passes, it is gone. Losing a minute or an hour, or a day is something you can never take back and never justify. With that in mind, cherish the people that are important to you because, all too quickly, the time will be gone. This is perhaps one of the few things that are a constant in the perception of humankind, time passes, and time is finite.

so as the sun sets on another day, I hope you know that I appreciate you. Even if I haven’t met you and do not know you, I appreciate that you have taken some time to share a few moments with me. There are people in this world that will never see another moment of time and those people will miss out on all of the things they dreamed of yesterday. Let’s all live our best life today and let people know how great they are, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and howdy out there…

There you are…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was understated but amazing. Storms rolled in and out all day and the end of the day was a piece of time that seemed to be both in and out of the sunset.

I watched a conversation unfold today about moving away to find like-minded people. It was an exciting conversation and rather rapidly became opinionated. There’s something fantastic about finding a place where you belong; you do have to remember, though that an old movie said it best ” no matter where you go, there you are”.

As I watched advice fly at this young person like gnats on a rotten Peach, I was saddened by the approaches and the rationalizations of people. The young person mentioned was considering a move that could have cost her significant money and had no natural way of guaranteeing a potential outcome. This person spoke about their books as a motivating factor, but in today’s world, our only limitations are those we place on ourselves. When Sputnik was launched and the Space Race began, there were the beginnings of the internet today, but no one could have seen how small it would have made the world. You can be everywhere with minimal effort if only you take the time.

My advice to anyone looking for a new world somewhere else is to make certain that your reasons for going are sound. Not that I’m not for Adventures, as I have been all over the world, but more for making sure that we find our way to what could be home without reservation or prejudice.

And for everyone who has a bias about locations, just remember, if you have a bias about anywhere, then the bias lies with you, not with the place. We are a people who could be of any particular type no matter where we are and often, moving trades one problem for another. It’s just a matter of timing.

Funny though, with the world as it is today, live where you want to, and pick a place you will like to live, the people will connect with you from everywhere. It is just finding those people.

So as the sun sets on another day, find your life, and don’t listen to me, or anyone else if you find what you want to do, just be sure you live every day with all the passion you can, and make the world the best place it can be, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and there you are…
