More snow?

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was snowy. Well, there were a few moments of sun, but it was mostly snowy. The sun peeked in through the clouds as a shadowing white globe bouncing across the sky. It was fun.

Maybe the weather should just drop the mic.

I have to admit it was pretty though.

so as the sun sets on another day, sometimes you should just enjoy what you can, and look for the bright side. Then again, you could also smile at the fun in the snow and make today a day to throw snowballs and drink cocoa! Have a super day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and more snow…

Snowdrifts…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was a barrage of light across a winter snowscape. The resulting color shift was both stunning and spectacular and maybe a little more. Each moment in time was a snapshot of beauty, just like every moment is in reality.

Every once in a while we run into a blip in the road. It can often be more than a problem as “snowdrifts” block our way and keep us from getting to our goal.

Yeah yeah, another one of those metaphors but it is a very valid one. A snowdrift is something that seems immovable but it can be overcome either by going around it, going through it, or melting it down to water. Melting it down to water can be violent as in with a flamethrower or you can just wait for the weather to change and watch it melt before you. The metaphors are off the scale here.

The last week has been very tense in many ways and sometimes very trying. Now I could have going around and avoided the whole thing. After all I was 10 hours from home and could have gone home. Problem solved, no issues. I could have climbed over top of the issues and found my way through with little bit of effort and probably by hurting a few people’s feelings. Didn’t really think that was worth it. I could have pulled out the trusty flamethrower and eliminated the problem or, as I did, I could have waited for the problem to solve itself and guided it a little along the way.

I laugh often at the problems that lie before us and how they seem insurmountable. It only takes a moment to realize they are transient moments and the only thing insurmountable is our own self doubt. Icky.

what did it all mean for me? Probably the same that it meant for you. The holidays can be tumultuous and can be full of conflict and unique issues. It’s not how we handle the perfect holidays that shows our character but how we handle the difficult issues that we have to overcome and somehow make the day as grand as it was meant to be. I hope I have succeeded and made this day as good as I can make it, but I know that between all of us we made this day perfect. How did your day go? How did your holiday season go? I hope it went well and I hope you found the courage to face and overcome any unique situations that needed overcoming.

So as the sun sets on another day, fortunately I drive a truck and snowdrifts are minor bumps in the roads until they get about four feet high. At that time it’s time to hit the four wheel drive and scream wooha. Annihilate the snow drifts as necessary and enjoy your day, every day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and keep living…

Stormclouds…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was lost in a cloud and a snowflake as I drove home. The winds and cold were trying as the windshield froze and people slipped and slid. Still, I persevered and eventually made it home. It felt good, but the storm clouds were still there, waiting to dump more on the horizon.

Ever notice how a storm cloud usually means a storm. As we watch on the horizon, we can see the clouds rolling in and knowing that the afternoon or evening may be less than perfect. Sometimes we can avoid the storm but more often we have to weather it.

I suggest we ride the storm out and enjoy our moments. After all, if you avoid the storms, you may not see the beauty either. That in itself is a shame. When it all comes down to it, the storm may be the best part of our day.

So as the sun sets on another day, I watched the windshield freeze and it was a pain, but I enjoyed the fun patterns, and the challenge of beating the elements. In the end, I made it home, and it was a good day. You can have a good day too if you see the storm as an obstacle and find a way to beat it each and every day, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and wow what a ride…

Well, that happened…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was a snowy series of fun. The day had been sunny, but as it passed the snow returned.

Contrary to most people I actually love snow. If you live in Michigan either you love snow or you stay miserable a lot. For the next four months, perhaps five we will see spitting of the white cloak of cold assailing our senses and making the landscape beautiful. It is a fantastic time for winter excitement. It’s an even more fantastic time for play.

If you haven’t followed me for a while, you wouldn’t know that I have a new puppy. For those of you that do follow this week was the first time that my new puppy saw snow. There’s something special about seeing snow for the first time whether you’re a human or an animal. Obviously it changes the landscape completely and even more obviously if you’re not dressed right or if you’re a puppy, your feet get cold.

Today while playing outside, I looked out over the horizon and all of the weeds and fallen trees were wearing a blanket of white. Nothing was truly gone but as I paid attention I reveled in the idea of the beauty before me. If you take a step back from anything in the snow it is the same.

While playing in the snow I got my best laugh of the day as the puppy walked underneath a white pine flocked with new snowflakes and I shook it a little and covered her with snow. Normally I would expect people and animals to shy away from that barrage but the puppy, being a little over the top, jumped into the air and grabbed another branch and pulled it down on herself. For the next 5 minutes it became a game of how many branches we could find that would cover her in snow as she danced around glistening like a crystal canine. It was a lot of fun.

What did you do fun today? Did you laugh? Did you see past all of the ugliness and find a blanket of white to make your day a little better? The best question yet is did you cover yourself in snow and enjoy every moment of it? I think if you took your time you might want to be out under that tree, pulling a branch, and loving every moment.

So as the sun sets on another day, there is fun and just about everything if you look for it. Instead of avoiding those scary situations, embrace them. Find a way to make today the best day you’ve ever had. I know I will, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and brrrr….
