The sun sets on another day...
I have written many times about the number of people at the beach when I take sunset pictures. This is not just where I live, but anywhere there is a beautiful view, and a beautiful sunset. It is not just about the sunset. Well, sometimes it is, but many times it is about the feeling of community people get when they are sharing something so beautiful together.
Today I had the privilege of sitting with about 46 other great writers (and me, lol). They were of various ages and varies backgrounds. Short and tall, multiple ethnicities, and a myriad of other traits were present. We all had one thing in common, a passion for writing.
It was amazing talking to this group and learning about them and what builds their passion for writing. Some of them were self evident with driven passion extending down to the moments. One young lady was lost in writing every free moment she was there. Others traded stories and learned about each other and you could tell in spite of the personality mix that they were all of one common goal, to write.
I won't say every one of them wrote for the same reason. I am sure some wrote to remember, some wrote to forget, some to cope, some to discover, some for fun, and some as a penance, but in the end, they were all driven and I was a part of this little group if only for a moment.
It means something to all of us to belong to something. We are truly blessed each time we are more than just who we are, meaning we are blessed to be part of something bigger. Whether it is a simple bond of a few, a bond of family, a bond of community or more, we feel as though the world is better because we are part of something better. Today I shared in one of the feelings with a plethora of very special people.
So as the sun sets on another day, find something to be part of and hold on. Be it a simple group or a large group, it will fulfill parts of you and really make life a little better. Be more, give more, and in the process become somewhat better. Today I felt good to be a part of such an amazing group, and maybe, just maybe, some friendships were born today. If you are lucky enough to see friendships bloom, hold on to them and make them stronger all you can. It has to be two sides, but that happens to, but hold on to all your friendships, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and feel passion every day, and more...
The sun sets on another day...
As the sun sets the sky becomes alive with life. Some finding their home for the night, some finding a way out to the night, and some just frolicking in the colors as the sun slowly goes down. It is amazing how the same thing makes people react so differently.
The same is true in life. When people are faced with a situation they react in a variety of different ways. Some people run towards darkness, some people run away from darkness, and some people just go with the flow and enjoy the moment. Today's question is who are you?
When faced with change are you the one who runs toward the change, who embraces the change in the blink of an eye knowing it is your place to do so? Are you the literal person who has no fear and find a way? If you are you probably are doing well, and your only drawback may be getting board from time to time. Many books state people who grab onto change are likely to be our leaders, and those who take us to new heights.
There are those people that like to play it safe as well. Are you the person who goes home and stays out of the limelight? That person who stays safe and makes sure things are always good? Perhaps then you are safe and doing OK, maybe nothing special, or maybe really special, but never too far too fast. Instead you make it work, and make sure that you are an anchor. I like to think these people make ur lives great because they are the ones we can count on always.
Then there are the others. This will not be just one type but from flighty to unpredictable. Are you one that can never be predicted? It is hard to see who or how you are, but more that you are probably either having fun or always miserable. You likely are not sure of what you want in life, and even if "whoop there it is" you miss out. Sometimes you may even ruin something good thinking you are being safe or not safe, but in the end, you are just making life a little rougher for yourself.
Now I am no PhD psychoanalyst. My thoughts are based on observations for a lot of years, and I could easily be either right or wrong, but maybe, just maybe I got you thinking for a moment. Thinking is the best thing you can do and I challenge you to always take at least a few moments a day to think, and maybe look at a mirror and decide how life truly is for you.
So as the sun sets on another day, I would like to think you are a flock, a series of all of the best qualities of all types of people that adapts yet is safe, is carefree yet reserved. I would like to hope we can all be good people that make life even better not just for ourselves but for those around us. In the end, we are not just here for a few, we are here to make a difference and be the best we can be, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, smile, and flock together every once in a while...
The sun sets on another day...
It is sometimes funny when I come up with an idea from someone I talked to or something I saw. I consider my past and the pasts of those people I have talked to, and then I search for a few things similar.
I really liked the movie "Tangled" as it revolved around a young lady who just wanted to see life, live life, and be alive. "The wind in my hair" just happens to be one of the songs in the movie. This weekend, while I drove around a lake I felt alive with the wind in my hair, and thought about how great it was to experience new things, and live a dream. So today as I wrote I saw the similarities, and I believe the entire thought process is valid.
If you are not feeling the wind in your hair from driving a cool boat, a motorcycle, a classy convertible or just a car with the windows down, consider for a moment the possibility that it should would be cool if you reached a little further. Consider all the fun you could be or are having with the wind in your hair, and even if you don't think you can feel the wind in your hair, consider the metaphor and find something that you love.
We should always strive to be as positive as possible. We should be committed to our dreams in life, and find a way. We should always find a way to be better and see past the next stop sign, we should all try to see past the stops themselves, and to the journey that may make us better people. Yes, there will be some flats, some problems, some bumps. They won't stop us because we can see past, and know that our choice is to have the wind in our hair, no matter what.
So as the sun sets on another day, well, don't let anything hold you back. Feel the wind, feel the sunset wash across you, and the sunrise too, and all in between. Find a way to keep moving towards your dreams and keep on driving. Find ways around the obstacles, and if you have to drop anchor for a while, remember it comes up too. Try not to settle for what you can have and instead find the best route to make your life complete. It may not always be what you think, but you will enjoy the ride. In the end, remember to have fun, because without fun, well, life would be no fun. (duh) Lastly, take a few people with you, you may not know it, but they may need you for a moment or two.
Sleep sweet, drive hard, and listen to good music whenever you can...
The sun sets on another day...
Twelve score and 1 year ago. Wow. A long time. A group of men came together to make something greater than what they had before. They were not perfect, and they did not always agree. Sometimes they heavily disagreed, but they listened to each other. The listened and watched the sun rise, and the sun set and knew there had to be more than what they had left behind.
It is funny how Benjamin Franklin, one of our founders, is quoted consistently today and many people do not know it was him. For example "..do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of.." is still timeless in its message. "time is what life is made of" is something we should all consider very closely as time is a finite resource we never seem to have enough of no matter if it is daily, hourly, weekly or whatever. Each day passes into the next, and before you know it, a country has grown a thousand fold. For us, a family grows so fast it is hard to keep up and we often watch life pass us by so quickly we wonder how we missed things.
I digress. (or do I?)
As our forefathers went through their lives they built a foundation that was solid for us to all believe in, with a simple core value, that all men are created equal. I will not get political, nor debate, nor even go too far to explain, but each day I thank all that is for the country I live in. I have seen many others, and known things that are less than pleasant, and realized that in truth, there is no place like home.
So as the sun sets on this July fourth, and we celebrate our independence once more (and scare poor dogs everywhere :( ) take just one moment and consider all the things that we have in the United States if you are here. Consider how much we have to be thankful for, and have an amazing fourth. Tomorrow may be another workday, but today is timeless and I was glad to celebrate it.
Sleep sweet, love life, and live it....
