Today while searching for the perfect sunset I came across tracks in the sand that I did not recognize. Now, there were lots that I did recognize and as I sifted through the dog, bird Adidas, and barefoot human tracks I was mystified at the tack before me. After walking through the tracks and thinking about it, I agreed with another suggestion, perhaps it was a deer that had changed. As I studied it, I became certain it was exactly that. A deer track that had widened with the water and become a different sort of track.
In life we sometimes see the same. As we are paying attention to how someone is doing something, watching their tracks so to speak, suddenly the racks change and we have something completely different. (Not to be confused with Monty Python) Perhaps if we paid more attention at the beginning we would see the true nature of a person, but often all we have to go by is their "tracks" and those sometimes deceive us. How many people have ended up in a relationship with someone they thought was true, only to find the have been played, or been in a relationship they thought was passive, only to find the love of their life. How many "friends" have turned out to be more, and how many friends have turned out to be less?
No matter how you slice it if we had really paid attention to the tracks we would have found the truth before we walked in circles as I did tonight, looking for a source that may never have been there at all.
So as the sun sets on another day, let's take a moment and look at the tracks around us, and make sure the tracks we leave are true, or better yet, not leave any tracks at all.
Sleep sweet, and love to the moon and back, and the stars beyond...
The sun sets on another day...
Last night in a moment of less than restful sleep I watched the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". For those of you that have not seen it the movie is a tear jerker that pulls you in with a little romance and a lot of passion around each and every corner. To me, the moral is simple, your dreams may be answered, but not necessarily in the way you wanted or even considered them answered. Dreams are a good thing and sometimes we do not realize the reality we have in our hands, and in doing so miss in life maybe just a little..
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, err, or something like that, I knew someone who was with another someone who was the yin to their yang every moment and every instant they spent together was amazing. (Given I was not there every instant it is anecdotal to consider this, but hey, I was a believer) In the end one of the two of them made a sideways move and they moved on and had a rough time, somehow in the fray thinking another way would be better than what they had, to me they had the dream already, and both of them said so too, so who knows. The point is, sometimes we don't realize how amazing something is, until we are told, "remember that dream you had, well it sure looks like you got it"
So as the sun sets on another day, remember that sometimes that thing you asked for, you were given and just didn't recognize it. After all, I never have gotten my Viper, but my Stealth has been what I think I wanted anyway....
Sleep sweet, love life, and live for your dreams, and find a way to make them your life...(Then find another dream, wash rinse, repeat)
The sun sets on another day...
The night falls upon us and the hand of Morpheus closes upon us, taking us into the world of dreams. there we find solace in the peace of our dreams or turmoil, or even fear.
In the movie "What dreams may come" the world between worlds is a place of colors that are less than solid and a series of events that both are and are not under our control. True, the movie is about more than a dream, but dreams are, or at least can be, a place of wonder.
Although I have always avoided sleep I have enjoyed so many fantastic dreams, solving problems and enjoying "alternity" where the things that should have happened in life, could be real.
When I was younger and before I could change a dream while in it (Another story) I would sometimes take a turn and see nightmare. Things I could not control would overwhelm and when I was a child the monsters of my rather interesting life would be given animate anger and would come for me, causing more than just a moment of young fear.
On my curio there stands a small porcelain dinosaur. It was given to me by my grandmother and it was there when i was young and felt the nightmares close in. In my dreams when they came, the dinosaur would take a life of its own as well, and then protect me from all that came. Probably silly, but this slow progression let the darkness that could invade become a light that could lead me forward, to better thoughts, better moments, and better dreams.
So as the sun sets on another day, remember your dreams are a window to who you are, hopes, fears, positives, and negatives, and those dreams may well be some of the best and worst moments of your life. Grab on to your own "dinosaur" or something to make it easier, perhaps the colors of a sunset, and move your dream to a positive place. I know you are worth it.
Sleep sweet, dream a little dream, and love life, each and every day...
The sun sets on another day...
As the sun was setting the walk was painful. It was not a long walk, but each step was filled with an underlying agony. Step by step the burning grew, and finally a bench was in sight. Maintaining composure as the bench got closer until finally for a moment there was rest.
Ever feel like that? Each step is painful and it seems like the rest we finally get? It happens but perhaps we should remember that it could be worded another way.
As the sun was setting the walk reminded me of life. It was bittersweet and reminded me each moment there was hope as i still felt alive and saw my salvation. Moments may pass, but i know as i move forward I will soon get to refresh my life so I can move on.
Same thoughts, different approach.
So as the sun sets on another day remember that those things in life we put a bad spin on can be our salvation, and may be there to truly remind us how lucky we are today.
Sleep sweet, love life, and love some more, it is worth it...
