The sun sets on another day...
First, this is way way way too involved in too much in just a short time, but here goes....
It is interesting right now the number of people who read this daily. I had let it go for some time, then revived it in the middle of the year in 2015. In doing so I did a lot of work to reset the center of what I was stating, and to truly look at a variety of paths. I also started writing a book. It has turned into an eye opening experience and is now at 200 pages, and over 47000 words. There is an amazing amount of research a person must do to make sure the book flows, and even though some of the characters come from my experiences, I feel I have created several characters and given them at least some substance for my eventual readers to enjoy, and given them life from me.
There are those people we know in life that truly have the ability to become a character in a book, some that we would rather avoid, and some that will deny they are a character and pray they are never revealed as one. Today as the sun sets on another day, we should consider which one we are in life. Are we the sullen character that is deep and complex, the one who is full of life and adventure and wants to change the world, make a difference, or even make dinner the best dinner ever? If so, we are dynamic and alive, and live life perhaps for truth, or maybe even justice and the american way?
We could also be that character that no one wants, the ma and pa kettle that for all the good they could do with their lives, sit in the corner, pick their toes, and try to decide what is for dinner. (Not necessarily in that order). Those people could change the world but because of interesting beliefs can barely change themselves and become lost in a fog of monotony that becomes their very being.
Finally, we have the characters that never want to be revealed. Those men and women that want to remain in the background and never be someones "story" when they can easily become center stage and the story that everyone wants to know. Those people cannot imagine why someone would ever want to be the center of attention. Here we have the compulsive liars, that read far more into life than is there and in doing so believe the lies they create and cause issues by living through their lies with others. We also have the reluctant liars, that avoid the truth so they can live a lie as they bury themselves in personal sorrow and people see them as the princes and princesses of the world, until their towers crash when the truth becomes exposed on some wicked social media site. (We also have the people here that just want to be left alone).
Sit back this eve, and decide which you are, and which you want to be, and make it happen.
For me, I would much rather be the first, who at least tries to live life, make a difference, and live each day like it was my last. When I stand before the creator of all things, I do not want to say, "I followed every rule so I could be a good sheep." I would rather say, "I bent some rules to protect your sheep, and in the process found all you made for us all, and lived it, loved it, and made the most of every day."
Anyway, and back to the original point. Some of my central characters in the book are combinations of dozens of people and now they have pseudo life as they live on the pages of this soon to be published book. With over 900,000 hits and over 10,000 unique users (But only a few hundred a day) I hope that someday a least a few of you can read the book, and if you know me, maybe a piece of a piece of a small story was part of you.
Sleep sweet, love life, and make a difference...
The sun sets on another day...
Yesterday was full of passion and fire in a tremendous political conversation with a skilled debater. There are lots of things in life to debate and the subject was one of those that is forbidden in most conversations with people. We all know that sex, religion and politics are at the top of the forbidden topic list, and of course one of those was a culprit, but it was spirited, and it was eye opening.
As we look at our sunsets in life we need to consider that we are not the only ones closing in on the end of a day, and there are some people who may not have the advantages we have, and some that have more. The trick is to try to understand points of view beyond our own so we may react to them in a positive manner. It is hard to do, we are often so sure of our own point of view that we dismiss obvious truths, or not so obvious lies.
In my opinion, passion is the power that will give us the path into happiness, while despair and deceit will lead us down another path that is not so good. As we identify those things that are important in our lives it is up to us to develop or understand our passion and drive it to the wonderful things it may be, for without passion, what purpose do we have in life?
So each day when you look at what is happening in the world and feel despair pushing in on you with its cold uncaring tentacles, why not stop for a moment and think, how can I..?
I have told my employees for years, don't tell me whats wrong if you cannot tell me how to fix it, and as I move forward in life will continue this practice. Perhaps we all need to consider when we see a wrong, a true wrong, what can we do to make it better and never ever succumb to "Nothing", and instead take that moment and spend time, send money, maybe even just pray, but don't just talk about it do it. Apply it to your life, change your mind, perhaps even change it just a little, but come up with something that will help. No matter what, or how small, it may just make a difference.
Remember the Starfish story:A young man is walking along the ocean andsees a beach on which thousands and thousandsof starfish have washed ashore. Further alonghe sees an old man, walking slowly andstooping often, picking up one starfish afteranother and tossing each one gently into theocean. “Why are you throwing starfish into theocean?,” he asks. “Because the sun is up and the tide is going outand if I don’t throw them further in they willdie.” “But, old man, don’t you realize there are milesand miles of beach and starfish all along it!You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t evensave one-tenth of them. In fact, even if youwork all day, your efforts won’t make anydifference at all.” The old man listened calmly and then bentdown to pick up another starfish and threw itinto the sea. “It made a difference to that one.” So make a difference in your life, make a difference in all lives, and live every day for passion, and as the sun sets on another day, know that you have lived, truly lived, as a new day begins tomorrow, be happy with who you are and the future before you (after all you made it) and If you can't be happy with it, change it! The sun sets on another day...
Yesterday I had a short discussion on sunsets and sunrises. The core of the conversation surrounded the idea that sunsets were an end, and sunrises a beginning so wouldn't it be more positive if this were 29,000 sunrises?
The answer is yes and no. (Of course it is)
If we want to stay positive all the time we can live in the essence of the day, and where light shines on us all the time and we know what is coming and can plan, change, and react with time to spare. Being negative, depressed or other not so happy feelings is a choice. A choice we make each and every day as we move forward into this thing called life. I would love to say I have all the answers, but each day I learn something new, each day I make a mistake, have a success, and much much more. When the sunrises, we are fresh, new, and without fear of the day. We know there are things to be done and moments to share but we do not know what these are yet, nor do we know how the day will go, if this were 29000 sunrises, we would talk about having a good day, no matter what, enjoying what is to come, no matter what, and living life to its fullest.
When I thought about the concept of 29000 sunsets it was for another reason. It was to appreciate each day as the day ends, and enjoy that wonderful slice of life that is displayed for us at the end of each day as we should appreciate both the good, and the bad, that we have received.
So as the sun seers today, as it does every day, consider what you have done today and live your night preparing for that new sunrise while enjoying the moments of the sunset.
Love life, appreciate what you have, but strive for the best so that tomorrow as the sun rises, you will be prepared for a better day and your sunset, will be amazing.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy every moment, no matter what...
The sun sets on another day...
...but I did not see it. The rain closes in with its icy grasp and chills my heart and my soul. As I slip to the edge of despair I am suddenly warmed by my past and my future for I know that though today may be less than perfect, that sometimes life and love find a way, and someday I will know the warmth that can never be quenched and life will be good.
Sleep sweet and change the world, no matter what...
