The sun sets on another day…
One of my favorite authors for a long time was Guy de Maupassant. A long time ago he wrote a story called “A piece of String” that I thought of a lot lately. In the story the main character is chastised and their reputation destroyed because of perception, not reality. In their case it was due to no one believing that anyone would reach down and be so thrift as to pick up a piece of string, and as such, blamed him for a theft. No words could dissuade the villagers from thinking what they thought, after all, if others said it, it must be true.
The sun always rises in the east, and sets in the west. No one can debate it, it is fact. It would be nice if everything in the world was as factual as that, but it is not. There are a plethora of pretentious positions on every item known to man. I can only say with truth that we as people should be accepting and honorable to all positions. Positions are built by the history of each individual, not always by fact, and even fact is not always as factual as it is believed to be. (I can give many examples, but they are long and unnecessary to point out something most know as truth.) The point is the truth you know might be the truth but no matter how much you know it is the truth, it might not be as well.
For our poor man in the story, “A Piece of String”, he died with the truth, and knew it was the truth, and was never exonerated. (Icky huh?)
So as the sun sets on another day, and it will, watch the sun rise, and watch the sun set, and enjoy every moment. Feel the passion in your heart and your mind, and as you search for your truth, remember, it might very well be the truth, but it might not.
Sleep sweet, live for beauty, live for truth, and love to the moon and back…
