The sun sets on another day…
As the sun sets reflections dance across the world. Colors are in mirror, glass, water and a dozen other material pulling light to us all. Some reflect the true light that we may see, while others only partially show the sunset and instead portray a darker picture, true but not true as the twilight descends on us all.
Ever notice how sometimes things are not as they seem, or are almost as they seem, or the variations in between? In life we often find that the truth is a shadowy representation of what is said, and what is said may not even be a close picture of everyone’s perception. It is strange but true that often the voices and words we trust are not as they should be, and more to the point, a partial truth can create an entirely different path.
I have written about so many people that have told partial truths and been seen as positive, when in reality the truth was along a different path. We often get so caught up in what we think is true that we can’t see the real truth until we sit down and think about it. Sometimes this is an affront to our very sensibilities when we actually sit down and consider the truth. I knew a person once that was always letting people know what they knew, but it was only a partial truth because they always wanted people to see them as a value. Sometimes that took a life of its own, and when something was said, they could not take it back. So small issues became large stories and large stories became devastating.
It has affected many people I know, as I have heard things that were supposed truths before, and the person being talked about was hundreds of miles away, or not even in the country. This shadowy reflection can cause issue to the target, but even more issue to the source and should be avoided.
So as the sun sets on another day, I am reminded of the movie “Bambi” where it was said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” and I amend that to, “If it is not true, don’t say it, if it is true, don’t say it, basically be quiet and enjoy the ride.”
Sleep sweet, smile brightly, and watch the reflections dance on the wind…
