The sun sets on another day…
The sunset was amazing tonight through the clouds and over and under. It was a welcome sight as I pumped gasoline after a 4 state and 1300 mile drive this weekend. As I sat watching the sunset I looked to my right at another pump and watched a man older than me (You can gasp here) shed a tear as he watched the sunset. I smiled to myself, gave him his private moment and finished my transaction.
As I drove away I thought a lot about the face of passion and what it means. There are so many things in life we can see and know the passion of the people involved. As you watch soccer, when there is a score, you can see the faces of a team light up, their passion echoing in the stands and in all that watch; as you see a painter painting a portrait you can see the determination and passion on their face with each brush stroke, each color coming alive with their thoughts and imagination; as you watch the surfer you can see their passion in each move and each wave; as two people kiss, you can see the passion in the moments as they look in each others eyes and beyond, lost in the moment, oblivious to the world; and the list goes on. This man I was watching for only a moment was lost in the passion of that moment. I will never know if he was lost in the sunset or some memory of all the sunset meant to him, or if he got a speck of gasoline in his eye, but to me in the moment, his passion was paramount and it is good to see that in any person, good to feel it in those around you, and good to know it exists for the world.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment and look at the world, understand you are a part of it, and feel the passion around you as you see beyond yourself, and feel beyond what you see. If you are the soccer player, play hard. If you are the painter, catch the passion in your painting and share it with the world. If you are the surfer, take your wave and show the world your determination. If you are involved in that passionate kiss, live it, and be happy at how lucky you truly are in life. For everyone else, enjoy the sunset with the passion of the older man, enjoy your moments as if tomorrow may never come, and enjoy your life as if there was no other. You are special, and you need to remember it, and then share it with the world.
Sleep sweet, love life, and share your passion, no matter what…
