The sun sets on another day…
It would be nice to be like the sun and rise and set with no care or thought, (well, as far as I know), from the beginning to the end knowing what and where you need to be and just go (or just do it if you prefer). Obviously as an object in the sky which we float around, there is not much thought necessary. (Or more to the point, none)
Today, actually this morning, I was reminded of a song in “Star Trek” where the cast member sung of “bitter dregs”. Now, the first question you may ask is “What is a dreg” and the answer is easy: It is just ick. So the thought would be there are “bitter dregs” just by the nature of them being “dregs”. In the end, however, bitter dregs in the context of the song can be interpreted a few dozen ways, or maybe even more, but I like to think it is telling women specifically to watch out for regrets(and loser guys).
So I will take it a step further, the only thing we have to fear from our lives is our regrets(and maybe loser guys), or if you watch TV too much in the middle of the night, your regerts. We can always celebrate what we have done, but we can never really celebrate those things we haven’t done, experienced, or determined were a goal or bucket list item that was discarded. No fair right? Well, it really is fair. We only have ourselves to blame for the things we haven’t done as there is usually a way if we just find that way and try to make it happen. So today, skip the “regerts” and find a way to do something you have always wanted to do. Read, laugh, watch a dumb movie, or a good movie, go to a new place, see a new building, a new restaurant or a thousand thousand other things that may be in your list of goals, then take a minute and write about it, talk about it, or just muse on it to yourself, but savor the act of doing something new, and make one more step towards a life with fewer “bitter dregs”.
So as the sun sets on another day, stand up, smile, and make the world yours. Waiting for tomorrow is never a good idea because tomorrow never seems to come. Take the time to find a happy place in your life, and avoid all the possible “bitter dregs” and instead grasp the amazing moments you can find, make them yours, and make them special, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and live it each and every day…
