The sun sets on another day…
As the sun rises in the morning sky it climbs effortlessly and speeds through the day with no issues or cares. Mostly because it is an inanimate object, as far as I know. As it sets, again there is no scurry or walk, there is just the smooth movement of the sun heading to and finally being engulfed by the western sky.
Hmmm
Don’t we wish it was that easy.
From the moment we are born we constantly strive for more. We press the envelope each day as a child, an adolescent and an adult and each day there are new stairs to climb. Some of us have it easier than other, and some are not so fortunate. Each of us at some point in our life will struggle to move to the next level, to climb that mountain, to conquer that task, and some of us will struggle just to get out of bed. There is no task more difficult than climbing a mountain your body sets upon you, and no greater victory that conquering that mountain.
We each face this in our own way.
Today I sat with someone who struggles with pain each and every day of their life. (Well, as long as I have known them.) With patient grace they had a dozen guests today packed around them and were still attentive and talkative to everyone attending. Tomorrow may be another day, but today was an obvious victory and I applaud the personal resilience this person showed.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a second and reach out to those people you know are struggling. Talk for a moment. Be nice for a moment, acknowledge them for a moment, but mostly hold on each day and let them know you believe in them. If you are someone who struggles, never stop. Fight each day to ride the high wave, and make every effort to make today your best day ever, no matter what.
Sleep if you can, smile if you can, and love to the moon and back, and the stars beyond…
