The sun sets on another day…
It was a race. The person behind me flashing their lights as they tried to go faster than I, even as I broke the speed limit. We got to the parking lot, opened the doors and walked quickly towards the beach. They were quiet, probably afraid of the monster that was now no longer in the car and near them. I was quiet as it all served no purpose to get angry over driving. As we closed on the beach the lights scattered with remarkable hues all over the walls of the detainment sections, and on the edge of the park benches overlooking the beach, and when I rounded the corner, all was quiet.
If there were a reason to even speak, it would have been muffled by the complete lack of sound. If there were sound, it would have been swallowed by the edge of silence. Even a mighty roar would have slowly been absorbed by what I saw, and by what they saw.
The beach was massive, and intimidating but subtle. As I wondered closer to the water, the silence was awe inspiring. No waves to break on a lake the size of an ocean, silent shadows dancing on the small ripples, and peace infused in it all. As I took pictures the sound of the camera was deafening and then too was swallowed by the silence, leaving me with only the moments to lsiten to.
We watched, more joined, but there was nothing to say, just a pause i the moments and soon the sun was no more, but the silence remained. A moments later I considered it all, and felt as though the world had seen enough strife that day, and as I had reached the beach it simply said, “shhhhhh”.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment, set aside anger and frustration, hurry and worry, fear and doubt, pain and anything else, and just sit for a moment, shhhh. It will be OK, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life and feel it…
