The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was almost visible as snow rolled in to the area. Another day, more snow.
I was thinking about the people who have helped me in life today. Those people who went out of their way to help, no matter what. I was also thinking about those I helped, those people I went out of my way for and made a difference.
In racing a slipstream is when the car in front sets up a virtual tunnel removing the drag for a second car. It allows for some tricky acceleration and sometimes a good competitive advantage. Perhaps in life a slipstream is when someone clears the way for you, allowing you to achieve more by eliminating a path in front of you. I like that.
IT is a good feeling helping someone. As you do you open doors to new places they can reach without your assistance anymore. You can keep helping but your assistance took someone forward. Isn’t that what we should do? Shouldn’t we help others move forward?
In my experience helping people usually feels good. I say usually because a few times I have helped people forward only to find a knife in my back, sometimes deep. Still, I would rather help than not help, even to my detriment.
On the flip side I have had people help me that have lifted my high. To those people I owe gratitude for they have allowed me to see the world in a positive manner. They have given me that wide view that continues to be solid today.
How about you? Have you helped someone up by pulling them forward with you? Do you create a slipstream for those behind you? Do others appreciate your help? Are you appreciative of the help you have received? Do you notice it? Do you try to return the favor? Do you need to?
All good questions.
So as the sun sets on another day, each day is an opportunity for more. As we go through life we can help others and receive help remembering that we are not alone in this journey. With that in mind, be the best you that you can be, every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love with passion, and fill yourself with fire…
