The sun sets on another day…
Tonight sunset was wonderful, but there were many ups in today, and among them was a bit of time watching a poet explain his ware, and show a little bit of his soul.
If you know me you probably either think I am way out there, or even further out there. I am intense in a way many people cannot easily understand, and I only answer intensity with more intesity.
To be fair I have slowed down a little as I got older, and actually probably have the energy of a 21 year old instead of a 19 year old. I find the challenge of the world is the world is a challenge, and I try to bring people along with me. I have usually failed. It seems few people can feel the intensity necessary to rise above what people think of you and realize that it is more important what you think of yourself. I am sure some people disagree. To those people I can only say it is probably best if you stay out of the way.
With authors I found a doorway to some of that intensity. Many authors feel similar, but I am pretty sure I still scare most of them. After all with that intensity I also found I do not necessarily have a true social conscience, at least not one that many people understand. Instead I am at 100% or more always, and will ask the questions and offer the opinions even when others disagree. I know that my views and thoughts are fluid because of this, and every day is a learning adventure.
Tonight I listened to Donny Winter talk about his life through poetry. He faced a difficult situation as a friend created a cascading series of social constructs he had to overcome, and he used the passion of poetry to express his feelings, and drive some of his pain, sorrow, relief, and fortitude. I was impressed. The poetry was full of symbolism, but more the man expressed emotion in words and I knew that there was intensity there. (If you would like to see this there will be a podcast announced on Pages Promotions in the future and it will be worth seeing. You can also look for his books here.) Even if you don’t think you would like the subject I challenge you to read on because his words are powerful and full of meaning.
So as the suns sets on another day, there is intensity in the world and I am not alone in feeling it. Our intensity may be different, but it is there, and we can all find a way to express ourselves. To put ourselves out there. We are different but the intensity can drive us to our heights, and along the way perhaps we can find those who share our unique form passions. It does not matter the passion as each passion is real to our singularity. My passion for animals, your passion for landscapes, another’s passion for human rights, another’s passion for solitude, passion for the underdogs, and passion for the heroes it is all there. To all the authors and artists that no matter their message cry out to be heard I can only say I hope you have intensity and press the envelope each day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and feel your passion…
