The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was beautiful and I watched from a distance with no camera and nothing to remember it by except the firing neurons of my brain. I was impressed as the day came to an end and thought a lot about the closing month and soon to be closing year. Then I smiled and enjoyed the sunset.
I was scrolling through videos as I waited for someone and came across one that was purported to be uplifting. It said simply that you are not your age or your weight or your past and that they do not define you. I listened to the short statement and understood what the person was trying to say, that it doesn’t matter who you are it is who you are inside that counts. I was saddened because far too many people are willing to set aside all the things that made them who they are.
No, you are not your weight. You are the weight that you want to be. What you have to realize is that whether you’re thin or not thin that you can be happy with yourself. If you’re not happy with yourself you have the choice to change or to learn to accept yourself. No one has the right to judge you but you.
Yes, you are your age and that age made you who you are. I bare my scars with pride every day knowing every battle and every obstacle I have overcome has helped me grow into the person I am today. IT is better to note that although I think I am 18 inside I may not look it on the outside and no matter the years I will keep a young heart.
Yes, I have experienced terrible things. I’ve also done some pretty terrible things. I am who I am not because of these things but in spite of them. To set them aside is to set aside part of my very soul. If you have been through a lot or done a lot you have to own it and know that you are who you are in spite of, or because of, all you have gone through. For me some of the things I have done have cemented me to not doing those things. It is how we learn to be better people.
At the core of this post is a value we all should have. We should be true to ourselves and in doing so we should know who we are. We need to accept our limitations and embrace our ability to overcome the largest obstacle in our life, ourselves. With that in mind please be you and find the way to accept yourself. It is there we all find happiness.
So as the sun sets on another day, you are special because there is only one of you. Believe in yourself and realize that you are who you are and that’s a good thing. Be who you are every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and you be you…
