The sun sets on another day…
I thought today was going to have a fantastic sunset as it was beautiful outside for a while. Once again as the afternoon waned the clouds rolled in and darkness came early. Still I enjoyed the sunset knowing that high above its beauty was there.
I am occasionally able to attend the writing group who’s creators wrote a book called “Write what you don’t know”. I have been part of many groups and enjoy the different approaches that each has. Many of the things that this group does I have been doing for years to improve my writing. Not only is it comfortable but the attendees are nearly always spectacular.
This week we wrote about a picture that is near one of the founders. As I wrote I became overcome with a story in my mind and put part of it to paper. This is nothing new as most of the time I write I have clear visual ideas of the writing. Often what I am writing is playing like a movie in my head and I become part of that world for a moment.
What was interesting about today is that in spite of the neutral nature of the picture it was very emotional for many including myself. Not only was it powerful but for at least a few there were tears flowing from the emotions underneath.
Of course, some people took a more traditional tack. A few saw isolationists, some used the picture as a launch pad for a political ideology, some wrote a series of phrases trying to use regenerated words but not focusing on a generated idea. All that is okay, writing is a form of Art that allows us to express ourselves. In the end the day was super, and the emotions shared made it better.
How do you see when you are creative? Does it open your mind to new possibilities? Do you see the completed product? Do you try to guide it or does it guide you?
Soa s the sun sets on another day, I hope your day is creatively creative. I hope you can see past just the current and make memories to share with others. Mostly, I hope you find a great day today, and make it yours, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and be alive…
