The sun sets on another day…
It was another beautiful sunset, November usually has fewer than this in Michigan. The setting sun lit up the evening sky and even though the leaves have fallen leaving crags and mortises and all other forms of craziness revealed, it is beautiful outside, and anything less would still be more.
I sat in on a writing class today and after I did so I thought for just a moment of the movie Patch Adams. There is a point inside the movie where a genius was trying to get people to tell him how many fingers he held up. As he held up four fingers the people answered, and he yelled “no” and was frustrated as nobody could see beyond themselves. In the movie, the main character finally sees and in doing so opens his mind to possibilities.
Today as I was writing I was given the opportunity to use a short video taken by a wonderful person. As I watched the video and saw deeply into it I thought of many things including the starfish story and chaos mathematics. Then it came to me, something completely different. There in the center of my screen was not only this picture but 28 people working together to see their own imaginations.
Somehow, somewhere I went down that pathway instead. Instead of seeing four fingers before me I saw 112, and because I am trying to learn about everyone involved, I saw the millions of ideas and possibilities that each one of them could open if they wanted to. I enjoyed the moment and wrote a short piece that I shared on the Imaginative Storm.
Maybe, just maybe, if we take a moment and see past what is in front of us and actually blur our eyes a little and see the world as it truly is then perhaps, we can begin interacting with people more effectively. Maybe if we take a moment to read someone’s book or their poetry, we can see beyond what they show us on the surface. Maybe we can just take a moment and be part of something more.
So as the sun sets on another day, it was a good day. There’s not much more I can say than it was a good day because that’s what it was. Maybe that’s all we need there’s a few good days and a lot of fun in between. Take a moment and try to enjoy your day and see past the surface of everything and in doing so open your mind to the possibilities of far more. I believe in you, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and 8…
