The sun sets on another day…
I watched sunset from a miniature golf course next to a venue in a town I had not visited before. The sky sprayed light and built an amazing sunset. I missed some, but it was still quite a view.
The number 42 has a lot of meanings. For me, it was always a “*” as it was an ascii character code, for others it is just a number. For today it was almost the number of authors at an author event in Milford Michigan. Almost. 42. It may be everything but today was a little more.
Another author event, and the world is a little better because of people trying to inspire and excite the world around them. Some of the authors I knew, some I did not, but by the end of the day I was again impressed with the depth of the hearts of so many, those who try to make a difference.
This event was smaller than many I do. This is the first year for what could easily be a staple for any aspiring author wanting to make a mark. I was not sure what to expect, but the organizer did a great job and was far more prepared than man or the much larger shows. I was impressed. The authors were positive and engaged. Even with the lower traffic they took it in stride, and in doing so showed a necessary part of being a good author, being adaptable.
The day started with a parade, and the people were there. It was well attended and those of us who went were forced to have a good time by the infectious merriment of it all. I found myself laughing, singing, and bouncing across the street handing out flyers and enjoying the moment. Why not? It was a super time to say the least! There is a lot of heart in this city, and I hope to see them embrace an event like this.
The event was not about making big bucks, this time. I expect in the future we will see more of Milford and perhaps further out with such a well run event. Instead it was about visiting with old friends and making new ones. I can imagine no better day than a day with such talented and amazing people.
Below are some of the pictures from the event:
So as the sun sets on another day, the only thing better would have been if Halo Burger was closer. Instead I had Arby’s on the long drive home as I chased the sunset and laughed at a book along the way. As I drove I thought about the day, and enjoyed the many magical moments. If you are in the area, I hope to see you there in April. If not, find wonderful people to engage, and make every day spectacular if you can, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy the rideā¦
