The sun sets on another day…
Tonight the sky was dark in a hurry as the western sky swallowed the light of day. Still, it was pretty as I drove. Best of all I got to think.
I was reminded by someone that solstice is coming. In a short tme darkness will be defeated again and the days wlll start to become longer. It is funny that eternal struggle between light and darkness. It iseven more funny when you consider how long it has been going on.
I watched a movie once about the longest night in the world. The stories notes that if people are not good then night will not end. It is a little gruesome, but the idea that magic and mayhem could keep daylight from returning is an age old issue. I am sure the man of ancient times wondered how he would survive as the world closed in on him, and days got shorter.
Now, we know that our spinning axis makes the seasons and night and day shifts and a lot more, but we haven’t lost the magic. Perhaps like the movie we need to overcome darkness to bring back the light. Perhaps every solstice a war rages between the darkness and the light, and we have won, so far. Perhaps we just need to believe that there are warriors for light, telling stories and holding the dark at bay until we once again open the season to a new day.
It is a fun thought. I hope you have a good solstice coming soon…
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment and open your mind. Be aware of the magnificence of the world and far ore. Be a warrior for light, even if it is only within yourself, and make the world a better place, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and another few weeks…
