The sun sets on another day…
I missed sunset but I knew it was good as I worked with my son to resolve a problem. It wasn’t a big problem, but it wasn’t small either I took the time and we made it happen.
I found myself today with an issue of getting a giant piece of machinery through a very small door. My son and I were laughing about it as we are both pretty good sized and there was number way to twist turn or pivot to make it out of the door. Instead we were quickly faced with having to disassemble a rather large beast into something a little bit more manageable.
As we did so I laughed for a minute thinking about one of my earlier jobs. I had been faced with configuring a new system and previously I had only worked on smaller boxes. The system before me was a rather expensive Unix box called a Sequent. It was quite expensive, quite large, and quite intimidating. I sat down at the console and began to type and suddenly realized that it was just another Unix system and it was just as easy as all of the things that I normally did. It was an intimidating job simply because I wasn’t used to it but when I broke it down to the smallest pieces it was just fine.
Tonight, we did the same thing, and we were able to break down the box very efficiently. What was a large piece of machinery became several smaller pieces and we were able to get them through the door in short order. I told my son it was easy because we work together and justice broke it down into smaller pieces.
My goal today is just to say to all of you, if something looks insurmountable perhaps you need to break it down into a smaller piece and in doing so open up the possibilities of solving anything.
So as the sun sets on another day, no problem. The world is an easy place to solve as long as we understand it’s not so big that we can’t break it down into something smaller. Keep making your problems resolvable and enjoy your days all you can, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and have a super night…
