The sun sets on another day…
Sunset called wildly to me, and I felt good about it. The sky lit up and there was sun behind the clouds. Waves of light shimmered across the horizon and through the trees sparkling off the snow. It was beautiful.
There it was. A moment of despair crept on me and I smashed it as though it was a clump of sand on a beach. I cannot acknowledge despair, and living in despair or sadness or guilt is the end of all that is.
I had a niece that was an example of the way that everyone should be each day. She kept a positive and upbeat attitude even in the face of adversity but had the tenacity to overcome obstacles and push herself hard, harder, and hardest. It was this ability to drive herself farther that made her so appealing to so many people. When we lost her, I listened to so many people talking about their friendship with her. They were all correct in outlining their friendship but none of them realized that at the core of her being she wanted to make a difference to everyone. This is an amazing task but very hard to deliver on. Somehow she found a way. She found a way to make people feel good about themselves without filling them with falsified hopes and potentially dashed dreams. She worked hard to make a difference.
Here we are today. We have been given the gift of being able to continue. We cannot in any way shape or form embrace the negative emotions that try so hard to take us away. Instead, we need to push harder and in doing so be a beacon of positivity without falsification of who we are. Now I’m not saying we should walk around looking goofy and positive all the time. That’s unrealistic. I am saying that we have an opportunity each day to raise the bar and be that person who keeps being positive in the face of adversity.
So as the sun sets on another day, let’s find a way to be more. Drop the despair. Smashed the sadness. Plow the pity. And set ourselves up to be the best we can be. I hope you have fun every day and make your world complete, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and be spectacular…
