The sun sets on another day…
I watched in awe as the sun shattered the sky with color. Today was pristine blue and became a series of hues that defied belief, and foretold beauty. It was spectacular.
I listened a lot today. As I have aged I find I listen a lot more and listen to hear, not respond. There is a big difference. People who listen to hear pay close attention and learn, those who listen to respond engage for the primary purpose of showing their worth or their knowledge. I find I usually now offer more when asked than when listening. It just seems easier to learn first as often I find that perhaps my view needs adjustment.
I listened and I laughed and I listened some more as several people discussed a volatile subject and agreed, disagreed, and became a part of it all. The lesson today was powerful, and it was easy. We should honor each others beliefs, and listen. A second lesson was simply, if you think you know better than someone who does, maybe you should listen.
We cannot in any way push our beliefs on others, or receive them without, well, an open mind. We need to open our minds and realize that we could be right, or we could be wrong. That is important. We could always be wrong, we just need to understand that a lot of things in life are a matter of perspective. Just consider, and try to listen.
So as the sun sets on another day, believe in yourself, and believe in all you can. Make every day amazing, and listen to others as you would yourself, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love deeply, and enjoy people…
