The sun sets on another day…
A hazy day brought a hazy night, with shadowy skies and semi sunny skies made the twilight colorful, with an air over magic and mystery. There was a feeling in the air, or maybe it was a little more.
Ever get lost in a feeling? Whether good or bad, have you ever felt the need to hang on to the way you feel? Have you ever suddenly felt an emotion so strong that you just didn’t want to let go?
I’d like to say that we can avoid letting go all the time, but that’s not always true. Sometimes our feelings are just so intense that it is hard to set them aside. It is here, in these feelings, that many people often get stuck, and it is here that we have to navigate and find a way for a little more.
How?
There are hundreds of books telling you how. A lot of them will say hit things head on and just run over it. A lot of them will say get in touch with yourself and breathe through it all. Some say blame someone else. Some say blame yourself. The list goes on. I’d love to be able to tell you that I have it all figured out, but some days are hard and I find a way to overcome it. My solution is do you think of a few wonderful things and focus on those. It actually works quite well.
Now I won’t call this the Peter Pan theory, but I will state that thinking of a wonderful thing is the same as having wings. We can find a way to trap our feelings and hold on to them tight and in doing so perhaps we can overcome the negatives to try to run over us all.
Take a moment. Take a breath. When you feel the world is out of balance remember those things that made you smile, made you laugh, and made you feel better. Hold on. Trap the feelings. And in doing so find more until the difficult things just don’t seem as difficult. It may seem hard at first but really it’s all about you.
So as the sun sets on another day, i find myself thinking wonderful thoughts after starting the day and then negative manner. Not because the day got better, but because I got better. Let’s work together to be happy and find the way to hold on to those feelings that are important to us, and in the process, find happiness, or at least a little happiness, no matter what.
