The sun sets on another day…
Sunset drove the skies apart as shimmering waves of light sprayed color across the deep horizon. It was a spectacle to behold and I could do nothing but enjoy it.
I saw something different today as I sat eating breakfast. A young woman sat down with her child a few seats away and they both settled in and ordered breakfast. After ordering the woman began knitting and the young man, probably about 7 or 8, begin playing with a small toy. I looked around the restaurant and saw other young men and women blocked to some electronic device or squelching like an untuned radio. The young man was quiet and had fun playing and the mother completed a considerable amount of her knitting while we waited for food.
Here is the unpopular statement. I think her elimination of electronics sparked the creation of imagination. I think imagination is something that we all have or at least most of us but I feel that it is constantly under attack from external forces trying to guide what imagination we have instead of trying to open our minds to possibilities. The young man spent good times in an imaginary world where dinosaurs still ruled and there was fun to be had for all ages, the mother spent time as well creating something from nothing with simple strokes and a bit of yarn. It could be said that imagination breeds imagination, and if that’s true what are we breeding with constant electronic nightmares?
It’s just a thought, i’m sure that you have an opinion as well and it is just as valid as mine. I would love to see a study that was real about it.
So as the sun sets on another day, it would be cool if someone made me a scarf. It would be more cool if the world was full of imaginative individuals challenging the norm and pushing for far more. After all, the world is a magnificent place and it can only be held in check by the limits of our imagination. Open your mind and find new excitement every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and to the infinite megamind…
