The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was particularly beautiful until the rain rolled in and sprinkled all over the place. I love having the rain but sometimes I hope for a little bit extra, and just a few more minutes of sunlight to showcase the day. I’m not picky though, I know that high above everything is alright.
First of all, I’d like to say I am not writing about sparkly vampires today. Instead, I am writing about the in between time, the flux between night and day, either at the beginning or at the end.
For some reason I recently got into another run down into a rabbit hole about twilight. It’s amazing how many animals have adapted to that period of time between night and day where they can run around and usually not be at risk from a considerable number of predators. If you think about it, what type of craziness makes an animal who is best suited to run around when we can all barely see? After all the light that is coming in throws off the darkness and you end up wondering what’s up next.
The reason that I was going down this rabbit hole is because at twilight you see more deer and animals running across the road and it’s almost like playing dodgeball with twilight runners. My curiosity was, did they really have an advantage of sight during twilight, or did they just learn that since they couldn’t see that predators might not be able to see either. Seems like kind of a dumb question but why in the world would you run out in front of a truck?
Maybe we all need to take a lesson here. Maybe it’s better to really see what’s coming at you and not jump in front of it causing an instant demise. Actually, maybe it’s better to keep your eyes open and let the twilight animals run in twilight and stay home and have a nice dinner. It just makes sense. Maybe twilight isn’t the best time to run out knowing that the animals can’t see you and you can’t see them either.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope we all can keep our eyes open and enjoy the moments before us. I hope we can all smile and laugh and love, and maybe learn a few things every day. Mostly I hope we see beyond ourselves and find truth in the world, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and sparkly…
