The sun sets on another day…
A magnificent sunset as a magnificent day ends. The air was filled with a sudden electricity and the storm was somewhere, closing in fast.
A long time ago I watched a skit on Saturday Night Live where Steve Martin spent time asking about an object that is never truly defined. He is joined a moment later by someone else, in this case Bill Murray, and together they asked the question “what the hell is that?”. Of course, this was followed up by mini additional questions with the focus being as neither understood what lay before them. At one point in the skit one of the two of them stop and say they know what it is, then there is a pause, and the question returns.
I would like to think that there are answers for everything, I also know there probably are answers for everything. Even the most ridiculous items that hover over our heads and may never be resolved in our lifetime have some type of explanation and resolution. At least that’s what I like to think. I don’t think we always look for the answers and as I sit here tonight thinking about that silly skit, I can only reiterate that sometimes we have to look and find answers.
That can be the tough part. We can’t always find the answers as they lay before us. We can’t always trust the Internet, and anymore it is hard to find the source of information that is filled with truth and justice. At the same time, it is not worth our while to consistently sit around and ask what that is or act like we know when we neither know nor know what it is. This is true from small things to large things, and it may be true pretty much always. My solution is perhaps we need to effectively deal with what we know and work towards learning the truth as we go forward. Perhaps if we’re not sure maybe it’s time to take the path of staying quiet until we know.
The world might be a quieter place if everyone did that. If you don’t know for sure and you don’t talk about it the idea dies. If you do know for sure, share. No matter how you slice it, it works and eventually those who profess to know and don’t will slowly fade away. At least I hope so.
For me, the journey is about learning. Maybe if we took the time to understand and look for relevant sources of information, things might become clearer to us all. Or maybe I’m just idealistic. Either way I hope you find a path to find the truth.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope the world before you opens doors to knowledge. I hope the world before you opens doors to beauty. Mostly I hope that every day becomes a challenge to be better and that you find ways to enjoy life, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and keep learning…
