The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was full of fireworks as lightning shattered the sky and thunder rocked the world. Somewhere the warms glow of sunset played, but it was high above.
I finally got to go to my writing call again. The rigors of summer caused me to miss and as I did so I found myself missing the people involved as well. Occasionally the hosts come up with good discussions after the call and as I listened I became intrigued with some of the ideas presented buy a book I have not read yet. It’s on my list.
A key thought in this book had to do with how ideas were presented and understood by people. As I listened to the discussion and gave some of my own observations I thought very heavily about a book by Piers Anthony called OX. Inside the book 2 alien civilizations were trying to communicate but the difficulty was that both had very different concepts and ideas for similar situations. In the end the actual interaction became quite brutal, simply because of the definition of carnivore and omnivore.
With people, even if we speak the same language, we often have a difficult time laying out everything before us. This is simply because we cannot have the same history and experience. This gives us different interpretations of similar ideas. You can see this very prevalently in current political discussions as a series of people are all sure that they are correct and I am pretty sure, at least for now, that there is little truth with any of them. Of course there are things that I agree with and disagree with, but those two are influenced by my past and by the discussions I have with numerous individuals.
Anyway, i don’t really want to go down that path, so why don’t we just say to keep an open mind and try to understand others even though the concepts and ideas may be foreign to you. It could be easy, and it may not be. It’s all up to you.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope that somehow I can give you a little of what I’ve seen. You may not always understand but I keep trying. Keep helping me along by letting me know how you feel, and make the world an amazing place, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and it’s all up to you…
