The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was pretty spectacular, then was slowly obscured by a bank of clouds that sprawled across the horizon. Still, the moments were amazing, and I enjoyed it all.
Now for your ironic story of the day. The power has been out for two days now. The power company was constantly moving the restore time and I was running the generator sparingly. Most of the house can run on battery and solar if the sun stays out. Today was a particularly sunny day and everything was perfect. I had not run the generator and found out that my neighbor had burned his generator out. I think this is a lucky generator because when I bought it over 20 years ago the moment, I hooked it up to the house after being out of power for eight days, the power came on. It was pretty amazing. This generator has saved my butt many times since then but today I was going to let someone else use it since I was doing just fine.
Of course, it’s quite heavy but it was on two wheels, and I hooked the handles over the back of my garden tractor and took off down my excessively long driveway then turned and went down my neighbors not quite as excessively long driveway. Yes, I did look like I belonged in the movie The Waterboy. Upon getting it there I set it aside and he was very thankful and took it back around the house and quickly started it up. It was working perfectly, and I drove my tractor home to have some dinner.
15 minutes later, while in the midst of an almost well-deserved mini-Turkey sandwich the power came back on. I instantly started singing the ironic song to myself, finally giving him a solution only for it to be unnecessary. Sometimes that’s the way it is.
How about you? Ever in the middle of a challenge and suddenly come up with a solution only to find it unnecessary? How do you handle that, or do you just roll with the flow?
So as the sun sets on another day, personally I get a kick out of all of it. Finding the solution is just as awesome as having it solved before us. Life is sometimes unique and if we just enjoy the ride, we’ll have a lot more fun. I hope you come up with good solutions, even when they’re not necessary, and then the end I hope you enjoy your day, every day, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and that’s high quality H2O…
