The sun sets on another day…
I know this will be hard to believe, but it was another rainy day. The rain fell silently as almost a mist would but covered the ground and I am at the point that I hear the soothing sound of the sump running to keep the water from the house. That works out pretty good.
Every once in a while I get in a mood and think about the meaning of life. As I do so I feel I may be walking a lonely path with my opinions. Perhaps not, but it is likely that sometimes I don’t align with others. Fortunately, sometimes I do.
One thing I am finding is that many people no longer have a desire to do very much in the world. Many people stay at home, hide in their house, and spend as little time interacting with other people as they can. They also spend very little time seeing anything about the world except through electronic devices which have become the norm.
A few years ago the artist Mobi came out with a video splice, and I’m not sure that he did the actual splice, but it combined the sound of silence with a multitude of images following people that were lost in an internet world. These people spend more time socializing online than learning anything and the song was a testament to our current society.
Now I’m not saying that we should dump the internet, otherwise you would never read anything I wrote. Kind of would defeat the purpose a little, but maybe we all need to take a little time and go out and see the world. Maybe, just maybe there’s more to life than watching YouTube. Maybe not.
For me, as this day comes to an end, I had another adventure where we went to a new restaurant that was actually five restaurants and somewhere in it all we enjoyed our meals and the people around us and maybe learn the little bit more. For me, everyday is about learning, and every day is about striving to become more than I was yesterday. Today at least, I made a small step, and tomorrow, who knows.
So as the sun sets on another day, have a little adventure occasionally. Step out of your comfort zone. Put down your phone and look at the world. And somewhere along the way remember that you are special. Thanks for being you, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and hello darkness my old friend…
