The sun sets on another day…
The sun slid down in the wester sky without regard to it all. I found my day so easy, and smiled at the setting of the sun.
Perhaps I was wrong. Today was a bear, but as a bear I fought it and overcame. Well, a bear you can rarely overcome. I remember when the world was a little different and Victor the rasslin’ bear traveled the countryside. Now days it would be considered cruel or strange, but Victor seemed to have fun throwing people around a ring with no effort at all. He wore a muzzle but always seemed happy and attentive to his trainer. They travelled and set up in the mall I worked at in the late 70s and early 80s.
The wrestling team from high school was there and left, and many people paid to wrestle. I paid $20 dollars I think in between other bouts. I faced Victor once and lost in a matter of seconds. I was swept off my feet and pinned almost immediately. Ooops. No fun eh? I learned a good lesson, I was strong, but I was not as strong as a bear. I thought about this over the years, and I enjoyed the idea hat Victor was out there, enjoying pinning wrestlers and giants like me. I saw him in the ring between matches with his trainer, eating from the trainers hand and acting pretty much like a big puppy dog, well, a really big puppy dog.
In 1998 apparently Wrestling Bears were outlawed. Who knows if it was a better thing. Victor was friendly, amazing, and super strong. In the end, I would like to think he had a good life. It is an interesting memory.
How about you. Do you remember something trivial that was actually a lot of fun? How do you think about it? Do you remember it all? What were those trivial moments that were important to you?
So as the sun sets on another day, life is good. Life is a series of trivial and important moments that make us who we are. Think about you, and what was important to you. As you do, remember to keep looking for the important things, but enjoy the trivia as well, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and go Victor…
