The sun sets on another day…
The day was bright, the sunset beyond belief. The sky shimmered has pockets of clouds lit up like fiery cotton. I watched and enjoyed, and as the day became night, I pondered a lot. I pondered a lot.
I have to admit that sometimes I get lost in thought. Sometimes it’s productive, sometimes it’s less than productive. Today I found myself working a problem backwards, trying to solve it all. As I did, I thought about it over and over. The question I kept coming up with was why someone used antiquated technology to control cutting edge technology.
Too many people that may seem like a dumb question. How do you tell the difference? What does it really matter? How can you make it better?
For me, it was a matter of why. I was consistently stymied by protocols that have been in place since I started in the information technology in the late 70s And early 80s.
It didn’t really matter though. The answer is there waiting to be found.
So here I was, at the end of it all, working on a problem, like I have so many times in the past. As I did it, I was methodical and breaking down each issue over and over so that I could determine the best path for resolving the issue.
I know, what does this have to do with anything? Well, sometimes we need to sit down and think about what is the best path. Sometimes we need to consider all of the possibilities and all of the paths that we’re looking at so that we can have the best solution possible for whatever problem we’re facing. Today I faced a computer problem, a glitch of sorts, and I was at the mercy of people and program something in a way that frustrated me. For you, it may be something different, but it’s the same process. There is a problem, and we need to work through it. 
Maybe that’s at the corner of people. Maybe somewhere in the middle of it all we are those people that solve problems. Which problems? All of them that we face. Who are we? We are all of the people in the world. Every day think of how many problems you solve. I think you’ll find it’s more than you realize. Keep solving problems, it’s what we do. 
So as the sun sets on another day, we solve problems, let’s keep doing it, and as we do so, let’s make the world a better place. We are the problem solvers, no matter what.
