The sun sets on another day…
It was another cloudy sunset, but the day had been mostly pretty and a little odd. With the skies full of water waiting to fall and the air full of even more water you had to wonder why it didn’t just rain and get it over with. It was well past sunset when it finally started, and I enjoyed the tinkle tinkle on the rooftop.
It’s an easy question.
How are you?
Now don’t answer too quickly. If you say something like that you are fine, that pretty much says you’re not. We have become so immersed in the idea that we have to give an affirmative answer that somewhere in the midst of it all we lose the meaning of the question.

That should be a really easy question. You should be able to say that you are either doing quite well or that something in between is slamming all over you. It could be any of these things. It could be a lot worse. There could be things going on in your life that would terrify most people. It could be fantastic. The world could be revolving around you right now. Everything could be coming up roses and even Ethel Merman would not understand the depth of your happiness.
How are you?
I think about this question a lot mainly because I never answer with the word fine or good or anything completely non-descript. Instead I answer with things that are somewhat obvious but often unexpected. Phrases like monumentally massive come to mind. Better than most is a good answer as well. I also often use old tired fat and ugly. All of these are potential choices and a lot more, and I try not to use two in a row. But my answer is an important. Right now yours is.

I hope you can take a moment and think about this and then let me know what you think. Be that person that actually answers the question and realizes that they are doing well or that they need help. Most of all be you.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you do fantastically and I hope as you do so that you realize how special you are. Keep reaching for the stars and perhaps beyond. Don’t love to the moon and back, love so far beyond that others will revel in your light. Hold the world so tight that you can never let go but so loose that it can grow on its own without you. Find the way to happiness always, no matter what.
