The sun sets on another day…
Sunset tonight showed pinks and reds behind buildings dancing with Christmas lights. I pointed it out to my table, and we all enjoyed the beauty for a moment. It was an exciting time at an amazing restaurant for Christmas Eve.
I have talked about tuning forks many times and how people are instantly brought closer or pushed apart in social situations and more. I believe that there are people that when you meet them you instantly find kinship and there are others who you immediately are turned off by. I try to keep an open mind all the time simply because I believe there is good inside most and even when there is there may be something redeeming in interacting and learning about those people. So far I have only been wrong a few times.
I digress.
Tonight I had dinner with friends at a location in Saugatuck Michigan, and I kept running into people that seemed to be aligned with me and our small group. It’s amazing when you find people that you can instantly start joking with, laugh with, and find some type of mental thread with. Of key importance was the person taking our order who seemed to be another long lost daughter that I never knew I had. Her patient approach to our table and the craziness and of course her patient approach to dealing with someone with no social conscience made me smile. I am sure so many people who work in the service industry find a way to mimic this type of behavior but I felt it was in earnest and somewhere along the way I just believed in the good of Christmas.
Now I know that’s not always politically correct, and I know there are some people who may not like me because I believe in the magic of Christmas. Put somewhere there is magic. Somewhere deep inside of us all is this need to be better. As I catch up all of the different Christmas carols I have watched I can only say that if you are not a fan of the feeling of Christmas then perhaps the three ghosts should visit you and look at life and all of its possibilities, probabilities, and exciting times. Perhaps we need to start looking for the good in people and when we find it hold on tight and try to make a difference.
I am sure that it will not always be the right path, but for me it will always be a good path and I will do everything in my power to try to help people and make the world a better place when I can. Not by whining or crying, but by simple acts of kindness that let the world know they are not alone.
So as the sun sets on another day, one of the best steaks I ever had was had tonight. I hope that you have a fantastic Christmas Eve and find a path to be the person that you want to be, no matter what.
