The sun sets on another day…
The snow was falling again and my ears were cold as I once again use the snow blower to make some semblance of order and a truly chaotic driveway. I took my time and the dog paced me the entire way and eventually we just watched the snow fall.
I’ve said over and over that the little things add up to bigger things. Whether good nor bad or good or bad or just really good or just really bad a series of good or bad items that aren’t that big can be something way too big.
Let’s look at today, I got a Christmas card in the mail. Some of you might say that this card was late, but I can’t necessarily trust that it was late it could have been here at any point in time, instead I can say that I got a Christmas card from someone who took the time to fill out a Christmas card and send it to me. It wasn’t the most amazing Christmas card in the world but it was an amazing Christmas card because someone took that time.
I’ve never been that good at cards. I try, and the addition of electronic methods made it a little easier for a while, but I find that I go down strange little rabbit holes and as I do I get lost in something else and then when it’s time to send the card it’s probably already late. I’ve been a very successful project manager and leader, and when it comes to making sure my employees are well taken care of I’ve tried to go the extra mile. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don’t but at the core of it all is this idea that I want to achieve success. I set things up so that I have reminders and re reminders and I make sure that I take care of those things right away.
Perhaps this should be my next year’s goal, to approach Christmas cards and valid holiday cards the same way I approach project management. That might be a really good solution. That might make me feel a little bit better about how I approach it all. I guess I will do that.
