The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was full of beauty as the sky shifted from edge to edge. A light shone from everywhere and I could do nothing but enjoy the moment.
Sunset came after playing trivia today. It was an interesting game and an interesting night.
I enjoy watching trivia as much as I do playing it. The people who you play with make the game far more interesting whether they are very competitive or not competitive at all. One of the more fun things I enjoy is when people suddenly realize and answer that is a little trickier.
Tonight I watched a table that wasn’t in the lead nor were they dominating everything that was going on but they were there having fun. In the midst of a particularly difficult question one of the players leans forward to the group clear over the table and whispers something and immediately the entire group gets excited and there is a series of scribbling craziness to ensure that the right answer is placed. They rushed to the table and turned in their answers and it was almost a strut back to the table.
When the answer is we’re being read moments later it must not have been the right answer because there was a brief moan and then they returned to laughter and giggling and having fun. No worse for the wear.
You know, I am not always right. In fact to become right in any area you have to have a significant number of failures and of course you have to be wrong. How you handle being wrong, to me, is just as important as how you handle being right. After all it’s likely you’re going to be wrong more times than right. I know, that sucks, but it’s probably true.
Maybe we need to start spending more time thinking how we approach the world and less time focusing on always being right. Maybe we need to consider not only the cost of not being right but the cost of reacting wrongly to being wrong.
How do you deal with it when you are wrong? How do you approach the world? If you are right does it matter as much? Is your goal to always be right or to always evolve?
So as the sun sets on another day, right or wrong we continue down the path of life. There is no perfect answer for everything and not really a perfect question either. In the end we continue and along the way we decide how our world will be. I hope you pick a good world because you’re the one that’s making it. Keep making it the best that you can, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and thanks for being alive…
