The sun sets on another day…
The temperature went down today and as the sun set in the western sky the cloud swallowed it and cranky cumulus clouds created colorful crumbs in the sky. It was pretty for moments and then it was gone.
In the midst of one of my posts in the past few days I mentioned the idea that you are special and you are enough. I know that many people don’t believe that because they are constantly looking for the world to define them. No matter how significant they are they feel insignificant and struggle in the moments as they try to understand.
In reality there’s nothing to understand. Yes I am speaking to you whoever you are. You are special, you are enough. I will say it one more time, you are special, you are enough.
There should be a book out there called the search for significance, and I’m sure there is but I haven’t read it yet. I’ll have to look it up and see if there is such a book but to me there is a lot of life that we spend looking for significance when we should be realizing our own self worth and walking through our lives feeling great about the things we accomplish, no matter what they are.
In the Superman with Christopher Reeve, Lex Luther made a statement that some people can read war and peace and walk away thinking it is a simple love story while others can read a bubble gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe. I believe this is true but I also believe that whether you’re reading a bubble gum wrapper or reading war and peace that you define yourself each day by how you treat other people and how you let other people treat you. That’s an important aspect, you are significant and in your significance you should treat others as though they deserved respect. By that token you should only let people treat you how you should be treated, which is with respect.
I know this is hard sometimes. The world is a unique place. We have opinions that are defined by what we think our significance is. We sometimes follow when we should lead. We sometimes forget. All of the time we need to remember, you are special, you are enough.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you enjoy your significance and continue to be the person you should be. If you’re not happy with who you are I hope you find a way to change yourself for the better. Mostly I hope you realize that the world is a better place because you are here too trauma keep defining that world each day no matter what.
