The sun sets on another day…
It was a surprisingly pretty sunset and I have watched it as I walked into the doors of a local grocery store. I stopped for a moment as the automatic door opened wide, then the sky shifted darker and I walked inside.
My grandson really likes Hot Wheels. They’re cool little cars and I play with him all that I can as we race cars around the floor. I have found that like buying the cars as well and soon my grandson will have a very large collection of little tiny cars that don’t cost a lot of money and run around the floor driving parents crazy. The parents crazy is a side effect that was unintentional but the rest, well, I think I’ve developed a habit.
It appears that each time I see Hot Wheels on sale I go through them very carefully to find cars that he doesn’t have, pick them out and eventually give them to him as a small gift. It’s not like they’re very big things, easy to deal with and in the end it adds to the fun that we get to have. All in all it is an amazing bit of fun, but, and it’s a big but and I cannot lie, I find I’m always looking for these cars.
As I sat down earlier this week I thought about why and I realized that many years ago I had a very large collection of matchbox and Hot Wheels cars, and I enjoyed playing with all of them. When we moved once in our yearly moves across city to city, my stepfather decided I no longer needed a whole lot of things and threw away my collection of cars. The only thing I have left were the slot cars I had with me that belonged to the race tracks that I still have managed to keep. Perhaps This is why I think about cars and the joy they can bring a child.
So as the sun sets on another day, what is your guilty little addiction that seems kind of silly? Is it a fun one? Do you enjoy all the time that you can have or do you find that that addiction takes time away from you? I hope it’s something fun, and I hope you have a great time, no matter what.
