Why miss another?

July 25, 2025July 26, 2025

A little bit of happy…

The sun sets on another day…

It was a cloudy sunset again and I smiled as the sky opened up as sunset approached. Even though it was a cloudy day there was a beautiful sunset just for a few minutes. I smiled and laughed and moved on.

29,000 sunsets has been around a long time. When I started it I was doing the blogs by hand and resetting it manually weekly. That’s been over 15 years ago. Maybe a little longer than that. When I reset everything in 2015 and began writing daily I found myself deciding content all the time. As I did I often found myself looking at what should work and what did work.

I never wanted to monetize 29,000 sunsets but instead wanted to keep it clean and fresh and put the information out where people could see it and not feel like I owed anything to anyone or they owed anything to me. Believe it or not hundreds of thousands of people have come and gone and I never knew most of them. Who knows, because of the longevity of the site there could be posts that are being used as ciphers in strange attacks across the world. I seriously doubt it. It would be awful if I went back and changed a post because I found an error years later and it started a nuclear war. That would be ugly.

I didn’t irate, I went through a period of time where I was reviewing movies and books and thinking that people might have an interest. There dozens upon dozens of independent book reviews that weren’t really red by as many people. It seems that most people come here just to get a few minutes of respite from an angry world or to feel good about something if only for a moment.

But, and this is a big butt and I cannot lie, I watched the movie Happy Gilmore 2 tonight. It goes without saying that the movie is a little silly and over the top. At the same time this movie had a great heart and as it did it made me feel good about the world for a few minutes.

One of my favorite parts was the nod to the actor Richard Keil. This actor played the giant guy inside of the movie that was a friend of Happy Gilmore’s. I have always had an affinity for this actor because like me he was larger than most, but unlike me he was even bigger than I am. He starred in movies like Moonraker, Unforgiven, and dozens of others that needed somebody who was monumentally massive. The AI nod to him at the end waving back at happy from the clouds brought a little bit of a tear to my eye for someone who was overlooked quite often but never truly overlooked.

Well that got a little sappy.

If you like fun movies, try the movie out. I think you’ll be happy with how you feel. Yeah there are some silly parts, and there’s some really sad parts, but the movie is a whole is an uplifting dream that believes that we all can do more.

So as the sun sets on another day, I’m feeling good about the world. It was a fun movie and made me feel a little bit better. I hope you’re having a fantastic day and that you will have an even more fantastic night, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and thank you Adam Sandler…
