The sun sets on another day…
Twas beauty that killed the beast, and tonight, as the sky split into a thousand shades of colorful, my heart remembered how beauty hits the world. Somewhere, in a second or a minute, I saw the blues of twilight pass, and night was upon me.
Here is a question: who are you?
It is a question asked by many songs, writers, poets, and just general people. I have listened to many people answer this question and over time it has changed. I have lots of theories as to why but the most prevalent is that we are in a constant cycle of self evolution and as we evolve we see not only the world differently, but ourselves differently.
Is it worth it constantly changing?
Of course. The easiest statement is that a Rolling Stone gathers no Moss but a more complex revelation is that as we understand the concepts around this our view of those concepts changes. Imagine if you will the understanding of something as simple as electricity. Wait a second electricity isn’t that easy is it? Some people will see electricity as the ability to plug something in the wall and get something in return but as our understanding grows of this they may see the flow of electrons being passed back and forth by multiple transactions that have changed the world.
Now look at electricity as it deals with people. A series of complex chemical and electrical reactions that give people everything from adrenaline to foresight. It seems simple but as we begin to understand the nature of it all it becomes far more. We define our world and in defining our world we become another version of ourself. We can become ever stronger or ever weaker depending upon how we guide ourselves and as we do the world seems different.
My advice which you don’t have to take, these two open your mind and realize that every day is part of a continuing evolution and in every day you have the opportunity to see beyond yourself and beyond the nature of your knowledge. Open your mind and open your heart and see well past it. See the world as a series of exciting moments instead of as a cookie cutter in which your mind attempts to shove everything into one shape. If you believe you are right about everything or anything you have kept yourself from learning.
Of course there are people who will cry out the word “science” but as they do they need to realize that science is ever evolving and the science of 100 years ago is the nightmare of today. It wasn’t too many hundreds of years ago that cutting someone open and letting their blood out was what made them well. It wasn’t too far gone that opium was used to make people sedate and considered a positive drug for solving nearly everything. There are hundreds of examples I can put here but the reality is that science is proven and disproven daily and there is no rule except for the rule that there is no rule.
Lastly for tonight, I hope you believe in yourself always because you are the person who defines your world and as you do that world is an ever changing version of who you are and who you might be. Let’s make it a good one.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you can take a moment and find the version of yourself that you like. I hope you can consistently be that person who is aware of and understands all of the items that go on around you and in doing so accepts the things that change and believe in the power of adaptability. Mostly I hope you find happiness every day, no matter what.
