The sun sets on another day…
The sky has been so bright today. A world within a world as I find the beating sun setting a tone for everything. As the sun set, the intensity seemed to wane, but the lightshow high above was still amazing. Color was everywhere, and then there was darkness.
Never use the word just for the sake of using the word? I find myself doing that occasionally is I get stuck in the ideas and the words themselves. Sometimes it’s just because someone used a word they have found it quaint or rare or I just felt like using it. Other times, while going down a rabbit hole, I find myself considering a word in the meanings of the word and everything surrounding it.
The word of the day today is perplexion. No it is not about your complexion or about your inflection but instead it is curiosity and strangeness about situations or the world around us. I find myself in a state of perplexion because I look out upon the world and consider the complexities that surround our everyday lives.
Over the past several decades systems and computers have overcome many of the ideas that we once had to consider carefully. Calculations on 10 key handhelds have become commonplace has mini micro computers becomes smaller and smaller. Things that took forever now or without consequence and still the world goes on and we find ways of taking up the same time without regard to what it should take.
It amazes me how a meeting of minds has now become a meeting of memes and how those things that should be obvious have become obfuscated by technology layers that surround them. It is what it is, we are what we are, or are we?
Now that you’re sufficiently perplexed by what I am saying, please take a moment and consider the importance of being you. This isn’t about me or anyone else, this is about you and who you are. Can you truly know the world sitting behind the desk and watching it through a monitor where do you learn the world by living it. Can you understand the depths of another person when you won’t walk in their shoes for another moment? Can you truly consider the world as a whole if you don’t consider how you fit in that world?
All relatively deep questions, but take a second and set aside all of the computers and consider who we are.
So as the sun sets on another day, thanks for reading. Thanks for being a part of this computerized world that makes us all just a little more excited about life. Mostly, thank you for putting the computer down and living your life if only for a little while, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and don’t be perplexed…
