The sun sets on another day…
It was a stunning sunset with skies that defined reason. I looked up and smiled as the yellow became orange, and the orange a bright red. The beauty was more than just visual, it was a palpable experience. Then night closed in and darkness enveloped us all.
I was lost in a song for a while. The lyrics are pretty easy:
A gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain
Softly blows o’er Lullaby Bay
It fills the sails of boats that are waiting
Waiting to sail your worries away
It isn’t far to Hushabye Mountain
And your boat waits down by the quay
The winds of night so softly are sighing
Soon they will fly your troubles to sea
So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain
Wave goodbye to cares of the day
Watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain
Sail far away from Lullaby Bay
I sat here thinking about these words and how sailing and a gentle breeze can take you away from anything. It brought me to a place where I was when I was younger and lying in the breeze of Michigan took me away from all of the things I had faced. I didn’t necessarily sail away, but I flew away on a magic carpet ride made for just me. As I sit here now thinking about the fantastical moments that I have shared I can only look forward to more breezes.
Do you ever stop and smell the roses? Do you feel the breeze on your face and close your eyes and see beyond the confines of where you are? Have you found your way into the depths of sleep just by letting the breeze blow over you or into the depths of discovery by following that breeze? If not, maybe it’s time to take a chance. Let the breeze flow and find your way.
So as the sun sets on another day, find your way. Not anyone else’s way, your way. Push through or just let the breeze take you where it might. It’s your choice and I know that you can find a path that works for you, no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy the breeze…
