The sun sets on another day…
Sunset was spectacular as I looked across the horizon and drove for a little while longer. The clouds seem to beckon the sun but the oranges and yellows shattered the sky and made beauty reign supreme.
It was only a few hours later as I drove that I found the world was upside down. Before me I saw lights spray across the horizon and as I got closer the streak lightning lit up the sky in ways that only imagination seems to hold a candle to.
I opened up my radar app and the only one word came to mind, ugly. I kept driving and as I got closer and closer the world became more and more chaotic. I tried to pull into a rest area but the entire facility was full of trucks trying to escape the psychotic nightmare that was coming all around us. I drove out and found my way to a small gas station as the sky lit up while the car shook violently from the sound.
I went into a location and sat watching outside as hundreds of lightning strikes slammed into the ground and flew across the air hail began to fly. It was somewhere past amazing and I was in awe of the entire experience.
I opened up my radar app paid attention as over and over the sky beat down upon us. I had never seen purple on the radar app but there it was and as the hail and rain pounded down upon us I wondered if the power would stay on and if the people that were slowly pounding into this parking lot would all be safe.
Minutes later it was done. Minutes later there was suddenly peace. The entire situation was maybe 20 minutes long but it felt like a lifetime and I wondered how I escaped such Carnage.
As piece settled across the horizon and I began driving again I saw the lightning strike in my rearview mirror over and over and thought about the world and all of the chaos that we sometimes have to face. That chaos always Fades away we are left with peace.
How do you face chaos? Do you fight it head on? Do you ride it out? Or do you ignore it and let it pass? How do you face adversity? Stand forward and deliver or do you cower in fear? These are all good questions that should have you considering how life is so precious and how we need to rise above and not get lost in all of the silliness.
As for me, I’m all in to facing chaos until I know that I need to take a short break and laugh while chaos and I do our dance. Tonight was a great night and I love the experience and I will carry it with me till another amazing one comes along.
So as the sun sets on another day, when chaos comes be the storm. If it’s too much ride out the storm. If you’re not sure find a way and make the world a better place with your strength, no matter what
