The sun sets on another day…
The bitter cold brushed against the sky, it heralded more to come and far more to be upon us all. In the end there was beauty in the sunset and the oranges and reds flowed across the west, signaling something new to come.
So I’m sitting here writing tonight and as usual I have a silent protector next to me. I’m not quite sure what she’s protecting me from but she’s always there, inches away, making sure that she is aware of everything going on.
Of course this is the same dog that jumps and turns when a leaf blows by her. Not afraid, but infinitely curious and cautious and trying to make certain that everything around us is being addressed. I would say that I am fortunate to have her, and I am, but she is also a little bit of a goof. It is interesting, it is fun, and it is amazing to have a dog.
Years ago I wrote a story about such. The story was a dream and it was based on a real dream almost letter for letter. In the dream a darkness was attacking. We all face darkness from time to time but in this dream it was pressing me and in the moment that I was almost without hope, all of the dogs I had raised were there with me. Those animals that I could count on always to be there defended me in the dream and saved me as I saved them.
Yay, it’s a dream right? Sometimes having a dog or a cat or other animal that bonds with you gives you a different view of the world and not only protects your physical, but also gives you the center you need every day.

So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you find somebody that is there for you no matter what. That phrase no matter what can call to us all. When it does who do you trust to protect your heart? I have a protector next to me and I hope you do too, no matter what.
