The sun sets on another day…
As the sun set, the clouds closed in today, as they close in often. The sunset was good, but the clouds made colors and an amazing light show, the night air rising as the storm begins to roll in.
A good sunset, perhaps a great sunset, but at what price?
Perhaps that is the wrong way to look at it. Perhaps the price of the great sunset is not anything. Perhaps we are blessed each day with all we have, and all we can have, and tomorrow is not as important as many think. Tomorrow is not here yet after all.
So I ask anyone, what price do you pay for today? What price for tomorrow? Do you set aside your tomorrow in favor of today? Or do you set aside your today as you wait for tomorrow?
In my opinion one moment lost is really too many. One moment set aside a lifetime. If we are so tied up in what tomorrow may bring do we truly have an idea of what today is? Worse, do we have insight into what we want out of life if we are never living in today?
I know, I know, it is getting deep in here, but today I have been faced with many questions where people only see what they want to see, and in the process they set aside what may be or what may not be in favor of their own small picture.
No, I cannot pretend to always be right, nor am I always wrong, but I do my very darnedest to live in today in spite of my past and (This is important) in spite of my future.
I have told the story many times. My Father was a busy man. He worked hard, he tried to play hard. I was not a part of his life for a long time. There came a week in 2003 that I received an email from him. (Yes, we had email back then) and it said simply that we had never traveled cross country on the motorcycles. He said he was going to get the motorcycle licensed and make some changes. Time was precious. He sent that to me on a Sunday, I called him and talked to him about a trip he made and how he had realized a lot of what he had missed. Thursday I got the call he had died.
I can tell you, worrying about tomorrow or hoping on tomorrow did not do any good. Make your world the best it can be today.
So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment. Live for a moment, live in the moment, and love the moment. You won’t be sorry.
Sleep sweet, love life, and live it each and every day…
